Thanks, great explanation. I can visualize the relative rotation now. Interesting to note that the more the Keyway helps the more friction it introduces. I'm keen to read the reviews.

X-fusion's Keyway is quoted as ....'a concept similar to what's used in a dropper post to keep them from twisting' i.e. it offers rotational restraint.
'Dropper post style' rotation cannot happen when the stanchion is paired with another one so the Keyways are not restraining any twist or adding stiffness in conjunction with the axle.
Think of a Lefty. They need rotational restraint which they get from a faceted stanchion (same affect as a Keyway with regards to rotation). If you paired two Lefty's you wouldn't need the faceting and could revert to the normal circular ones without adding or removing any stiffness.
It's not a great analogy but it demonstrates my thinking.

How so? If the lowers are connected via the axle then you are not able to independently rotate the lowers in the uppers, so the Keyways are not resisting any 'twist'.

How does the Keyway help with torsional stiffness of the fork? I can see them stopping the lowers rotating relative to the upper, great for a dropper, but redundant for a dual stanchion fork.

Results: World Cup DH Mont Sainte Anne - Qualifying
First 4 male elite riders separated by almost 8 seconds! That's pretty rare isn't it? Troy made up some sweet time after the first split so must have sneaky lines up his sleeve. Hope to see them all in HD glory on Sunday :)
