Bontrager Releases Clipless Flat-Soled MTB Shoes
@SoDiezl350: Ah, there's an interesting story behind this nickel. In 1957, I remember it was, I got up in the morning and made myself a piece of toast. I set the toaster to three: medium brown...

Ingrid Doerr, Founder of Roach Clothing, Has Passed Away
In June of 2000 I got an issue of Mountain Bike Magazine in the mail (this was before I had discovered Pinkbike and NSMB) that featured an article about the riding scene on Vancouver's North Shore and how it was becoming a new Mecca for technical trail riding. A month later I walked into Steed Cycles and asked them to draw a map to the trail head on Mt Fromme so my brother and I could check out some of the easier trails like Ladies Only and Oil Can. I noticed a Roach Clothing display in the shop. Since I had read a good review in that same Mountain Bike issue I picked up a pair of Indy pants and my brother got a pair of the classic knee/shin pads. We really had no idea about core culture at that time but soon after meeting more riders and watching movies like Kranked and New World Disorder I developed a real obsession with the brand. Ingrid defined a whole style and aesthetic for a group of riders that weren't racing or getting big sponsorships or a lot of positive media attention. The punk DIY attitude was super important when mountain biking was in its infancy, but I feel it's something the industry is really lacking now. Rest well Ingrid. I'll treasure my Roach gear forever, and I'm sure it's going to last just as long.

Pinkbike Poll - Do You Enjoy Working On Your Own Bike?
Yup. All the work on my personal bikes is done frantically on my lunch break, or in my kitchen at night. I did put a suspension fork back on my single speed, but it's a Z2 so I probably won't have to service it for another 10yrs!
