There are some works of art in the desert this year, as well as a few more polarizing builds. Check them out below and vote for your favourite. Jaxson and Gee's bikes are missing—Jaxson went home early, and Gee is recovering from his crash and won't be riding this weekend.

Big props to Sorge's painters for bringing visual big-mountain bliss! First time I've ever seen a bike and instantly thought: "I'd pay someone to paint my bike like that."
  • 22 0
^This. I get & respect that these bikes express riders' unique personalities, and that Rampage riders don't see the world through average eyes. That said, you almost never get the sense that someone gets inspired and says "let's put something utterly f*ing beautiful on this bike." Well done Sorge & Co!

@LokiTheCat: understated and low key like the man himself!
  • 5 0
Easy winner - except Brendan seems to be winning Big Grin
Love the funny little details on BF's bike, but Sorge's is stunning. And I can't stand Evil's frames usually.

Just look at those happy little trees...
  • 4 1
ah Not a big deal as people are making it. it's been done before. The Specialized 2008 SX Trail.
  • 2 0
 The Hoff!

We appreciate the kind words, and are so stoked people are loving the work! It’s been rad helping Kurt bring a bit of BC wilderness to the Utah desert!
  • 4 0
A painting I'd happily hang on my wall, on a bike! It's absolutely stunning. It makes the rest of the bikes look drab and plain by comparison.

@dchill: PB never ceases to amaze, nice to have a Bike Art Historian enter the discussion! Hats off for establishing historical precedence. To my eye, @FreshPaintsofWhistler has gone well beyond the single line of two-dimensional conifer silhouettes Specialized placed on their top tube: Sorge's bike uses the whole frame as a canvas for a three-dimensional alpine panorama where trees appear out of darkness on stays of rear triangle, get lost in fog, as you move upward & forward, only to reemerge from the mists by the headtube. As a skier & mountain biker, it recalls the visual rewards of braving the weather for a big day in the mountains. Perhaps not a "world's first" for the motif, but for this mountain guy, it elevates it to a level that passes the key test of "would I hang this painting on my wall / bike?"

Love seeing these single crown 7" travel freeride rigs so alive and thriving in 2023... 5 or 6 years ago you'd think that type of bike was going extinct.
  • 9 0
You mean 190mm, or 22.44 barley corns (7.48 inches).
  • 2 0
 @gnarnaimo: or 1.55 budweiser's worth of travel
  • 3 0
 @IsaacWislon82: 1.56 Hamms**
  • 1 0
Opposite for me. I love seeing dual crowns on super enduros
  • 25 0
 0 Commencals this year...
  • 61 0
They used all their frames in the 65 Commencal teams in the DH WC
  • 3 0
I was kinda dissapointed. I like the commencal freeride frames and I was sad to hear kyle strait wasn't gonna ride his commencal from last year. That was my favorite paint job ever
  • 17 0
@m40sniper: Vitus are probably glad he didn't though.
  • 24 0
 Brendog was robbed
  • 18 2
He’ll get robbed by a rider doing a tail whip on a safer feature.
  • 24 3
Have to say it but really like the look of that vitus, its a breath of fresh air with nice straight downtube and rear linkage lining up with toptube.
  • 2 0
 hard agree
  • 28 12
can't wait for the whining to begin over "brooo single crowns at rampage are dumb" and "its lame they are building smooth slope jumps" if YOU are riding rampage you should be able to set up your bike however you want, and if YOU are building YOUR line you should be able to make it how you want. It's not like its a course thats pre set, if you don't like the smoothness, complain directly to the rider. rant done
  • 25 1
"Rampage is just a slope comp nowerdays"
yeah, a slope comp down a giant desert cliff face with HUGE death drops, boulders, horrible loose surfaces, cactus, tarantulas, rattle snakes etc etc
  • 5 2
@pinegrove - if the band was your inspiration, I applaud your username!
  • 7 1
Agreed - build the bike how you want.
Someone on one of the other pages wanted to ban single crowns from Rampage. (I assume to stop bar spin/tail whip tricks, not just for the aesthetic).
Whats the next step - mandatory clipless pedals to prevent can cans and supermans?
  • 3 2
Funny, you're the only one whining
  • 19 0
 What happened to Riddle?
  • 15 0
 It’s a conundrum!
  • 1 0
 tactical dot
  • 4 0
good question! there is very little on his social media...
  • 5 0
I wonder why his bike isn't in this it's posted on transition's and his own instagram
  • 1 1
 Sounds like he got spooked
  • 19 2
How is the Tonka truck not winning?
  • 12 0
Clemens Kaudela's Spindrift is based on Caterpillar, and they nailed the paint job! I agree that it should be ranked higher.
  • 5 8
those yellow forks make me feel sick
  • 2 3
@chakaping: pluralizing of fork makes me sick.
  • 10 0
Nice to see Zink and Johansson riding previus version of spartan and session! No room for high pivot here!
  • 10 0
Godziek’s painter used cinnamon to get the impression of Utah dust and dirt.
  • 3 1
Did the cinnamon challenge while painting Ok thats already 13 years old wtf
  • 11 0
Has anyone checked on Gee's bike? It's an Atherton after all too.
  • 10 0
Forget the bikes, the real winner is Volokhovs Tacoma.
  • 6 0
Everyone who didn't vote for the Slayer obviously did not grow up in northern Canada LOL
  • 3 0
Must be because of that, i found Slayer design Ugly AF, like the spraying though..
  • 4 0
If you grew up in the 80’s or 90’s in the woods of Canada, you know that design hits hard!
  • 1 0
 Guilty as charged.
  • 3 0
I always like the hotrod look Lyle's bikes have and this year is no different. I could see the same paint scheme on a 50's style hotrod. Brendog's Scott is a close second for me though. Clean and detailed.
  • 5 0
not a single idler in sight. Its official - its only possible to ride crank it up with a low-pivot bike
  • 1 0
Cam Zink had a bike check where he said that high pivots suck for flipping stepdowns & tricking flat drops.
  • 1 0
due to rear axle on hight pivot
  • 3 0
All it takes is one 26" wheel to win my heart.

I'll go with Silva's Yeti over Boggs' with the dual crown fork being the tie breaker.
  • 1 0
Nice wast shur if u had one
  • 6 0
 GILA, MONSTER. WOOOOOOO
  • 9 0
I'll have you know that I did a report on the Gila Monster in 3rd grade and I got an A.
  • 1 0
Anybody know what tensioner is on Adolf Silva’s bike? Looks like a newer version of the Reverse/SB One tensioner but I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

And those rotors on Szymon Godziek's bike are a work of art! Got a set on my bike to complete the V4 braking system package. Very pricey, but IMO the best rotors you can buy.
  • 1 0
Looks like the Reverse Collab with a polished cage no?
  • 1 0
@thatguy404: yeah similar but it looks like the top part that mounts to the hanger is a closer shape to the one on the SB One Boner. And the chainline adjuster looks more like the one used on the SB One G3C.
  • 5 0
Sorry Cam, those stars look too much like the Cowboys logo
  • 2 0
You ruined it for me. I liked it so much too Frown
  • 1 0
 amen
  • 4 0
Only 3 coil shock. Air shock are that good now eh. Sorge's bike look so gooooood!
  • 2 0
was very surprised about the lack of coil as well.
  • 2 1
I've never understood why brands go to the length of custom painting a frame and then wreck it by insisting on using their standard font and letters for the manufacture's name. The Caterpillar theme would look so much better if Propain was written in the Cat font.
  • 1 0
Props to Sorge for actually taking the time to do the fork. Always bums me out when I see these rad paint jobs but then the fork is stock.... like Tommy G's bike. Match that fork and it's game on. Reed's paint is sick. Silva's is sick.
  • 2 0
Absolutely love Riddle's kx inspired scheme, but also gotta give it up for the skandic replica paint job on AV's bike as well
  • 1 0
I wanted to vote for NS of Szymon, but then I saw Sorge's Evil and wow, that is some work of art done there, I really love these kinds of paintjobs on the bikes... mountains, trees, birds (BigHit09 looking at u)
  • 3 0
Just can't beat a good cup of tea.
  • 1 0
was about to go for none of the above until i saw Bienve’s Custom Rampage YT Tues, it’s alright. maybe they could all do an itasha theme for next year.
  • 2 0
Does Tom van Steenbergen rides rock shox suspension with x fusion stickers?
  • 1 0
They spent their budget on stickers and couldn’t paint the frame.
  • 2 0
@s100: seems like Adolf Silva is in the same situation but with painted frame
  • 2 0
Clemens's takes the cake but special shout out to Vitus. The lines on Lyle's rig are super clean and the paint looks great
  • 3 0
too bad tommy g couldnt get the matching fork again this year
  • 2 0
Surprised by the amount of air shocks in general and guys running super deluxe over the vivid air
  • 4 0
 Is Cam Zink American?
  • 3 0
Interesting fork on Tom Van's Hyper lol
  • 1 0
Kyle Strait won me over with his wife and daughter’s name and little hand-in-hand graphic on the top tube. Remember who and what you’re living for!
  • 2 0
Sr Suntour, X-fusion, Manitou, Push, Marzocchi. Such a welcome change from the bland SRAM and Fox equipped WC DH bikes.
  • 1 0
Does anyone know why only 1 bike has branded Fox Suspenion and some of the other bikes that clearly have Fox suspenion has no branding on it? (seems deliberate?)
  • 1 0
I really like Szymons creative approach to mimic Utah dust with cinnamon, however it lacks some spice Wink Cdog's, Brendawg's and Reed's bikes are sick
  • 2 0
Well, I love polished aluminium, so the choice was easy. Sooo sleek.
  • 1 0
what kind of brand is "Hyper"? I can only find a company that sells a trail bike with Altus shifting
  • 1 0
 @tofhami: Well, it's actually this company: hyperbicycles.com

They build a Hyper DH prototype only for years now. Cam Zink was riding it before, too.
  • 3 0
 The HOFF .. ??
  • 2 0
How do I vote for ALL of them?
  • 2 0
Man, sessions went from looking so good, to pretty ugly
  • 2 0
No GT? Seems to be the Good Times are faaaaaar away...
  • 2 0
No T-Mac this year to rep em
  • 2 0
 DJ with the Flatbush decals
  • 2 0
 I like Tom's X-Fusion Zeb with buttercups.
  • 1 0
Voting for the Jeremy McGrath '96 KX125 inspired TR11 not listed on this list.
  • 3 2
DJ's bike has gotta be the prettiest DH rig I've ever seen in my life
  • 1 0
 Ya i love my bike
  • 1 0
Very few chainguides. All beautiful though.
  • 2 1
Talus or Kyles bike by far.
  • 1 0
I’d like to see an “after” pic of the Vitus.
  • 1 0
Definitely not the Trek. Must have been done by Project 34 or 35.
  • 1 0
I'm uncomfortable with the graphic on DJ Brandt's saddle.

*crosses legs*
  • 1 0
Interesting to see a lot of smaller brands represented.
  • 1 4
Ummm? What's the question? You wanna know which bike I'd bring home to meet the fam cuz it works & it fits & I'm proud to have such a good friend? Or the back-of-the-car queen based solely on makeup? Cuz all I see are profiles & makeup. How about some real information about why the rider chose that one. What tweaks have been made? Maybe even something like a brief 10-point feature list? You know..., basic geo numbers, component mix, tire & wheel set-up, yada. Something more than a new lipstick color - that's pasted on a little heavy to-boot!
  • 2 0
 Were is Maxxis?
  • 1 0
That's a good point. Only 1 bike has them.
  • 1 0
Sorge’s bike looks like a Sarah McKendry painting!!! Gorgeous!
  • 1 0
 VanSteenbergen’s Hyper with a 26 inch rear wheel… I’m in love!
