Video: Dirt Jumping a Dentist Bike with Christian Peper

by Austin Nicklas

Words & Film: Austin Douglass
Rider: Christian Peper

It’s not every day you see someone pushing a trail bike through steep dirt jumps or cement skateparks, much less a carbon "dentist" Yeti SB140. So sit back and enjoy just that.

Videography: Austin Douglas, Tory Powers, Ross Stoner, Troy Fairbanks, Tomas Morgan
Edit: Austin Douglas, Christian Peper

Christian just found out his family has been selected to adopt another child. He is giving away a Yeti with full ENVE/Chris King build as part of an adoption fundraiser to offset the agency and legal expenses. Click here to learn more about his story, to see the bike, and to possibly donate.

Having ridden with him for 10+ years, Christian is hands down one of the best riders I've ever seen. More bike control than most, and better style than all but a few.
Bonus points for being one of the nicest guys on the planet, too!

100% agree. Christian is a shredder on a bike and a mighty fine piece of humanity.

Christian is a fantastic rider, a great coach, and an awesome human. Adoption is a beautiful thing, and I wish them all the best in their search. It's an emotional roller-coaster to want to grow your family without control over it. What a great cause.

Of all the things I have donated towards this year ( I live in CA and I donated to a LOT of fire recovery causes) I feel the best about donating to this one.
The world could use more Pepper and less Salt!

So encouraging to hear that. Thank you for the kind words @Avanwin

Good luck on the adoption, ours was all set to for us to fly to Thailand in the middle of March. . . 3 days before they closed their borders. . . still going to likely be months before we get to pick our little (now 6 year old) little girl.
  • 7 0
Dang, I am so sorry to hear that... Wishing you the best of luck with the next steps as you grow your family

I don't think anyone ever said this couldn't be done, more (if you've seen someone like me ride skate park) *shouldn't* be done. Good riders like this tear it up on anything and everything.

Sick video, been waiting for this to drop for a while! Stoked to be one of Christians good friends and stoked he is going to be able to adopt another kid.

I remember watching a dude absolutely shredding Ruby Hill Bike Park in Denver last summer and thinking to myself "who is this guy he rips."

These clips don't even do Christian justice, he goes so big and looks so smooth in real life

Skatepark manual at 41 seconds was sick!
  • 6 0
Thank you, man! That was one of the clips I was most proud of. Tough with the squishy rear end. Almost broke my derailleur off with a few attempts

So stoked that Christian can adopt another child! And he is one of the best riders with the most amazing style I have ever seen! Christian is the best for ride with and always pushes you to be better, keep killing it dude and good luck with the adoption! He is also an amazing mountain bike coach, if you ever need lessons hit him up!

One of my favorite riders, pushing folks to jump their trail bikes on proper lips!

Before Christian moved to CO it was a ton of fun to watch him send the biggest jumps at I-street.. over and over and over... I'll stick to main line. Haha

Great guy and great adoption, not being critical of that stuff at all but when you 'give away' something for money isn't that called selling something? Isn't he just selling his bike to offset the adoption costs? It's still noble but I'm confused about the giveaway thing since it seems like an auction to me, like an ebay listing would be.

Pinkbike commenters only care about one thing and it’s actually kinda gross: “how much does this cost?”
  • 2 0
Such a nice guy...such a rad edit! Super stoked for Christian and his cute family!!

I've loved Yeti since the 80's when my roommate worked and rode for them. Great hometown grass roots vibe company. Christian's riding makes me love them just a tad more. Steasy!

Awesome riding. And an even better cause especially this time of year family is everything.

Hello Merriam Webster? Dentist Bike should be on your radar - it's official.

That was absolutely awesome and I LOVE embracing the Yeti/Dentist bike thing

Whats the specs on the SB? Size small 27.5? Or converted to 26? It looks really small
  • 2 0
 It’s a Medium on 27.5 wheels. I’m ~6ft
  • 2 0
It also has reduced travel and custom paint. www.instagram.com/p/CCLv4wOh1WZ --- heres the post from yeti's instagram.

 @lefthandohvhater: interesting name, bud

@spankthewan: keep it on the DL
  • 3 0
@spankthewan: Sorry I have proper taste in mountain bike trails. Betasso is the best trail ever built.
  • 3 0
@lefthandohvhater: I only have a 160mm bike, so Betasso is a bit gnarly. Maybe on a full DH rig it would be fun.

This man is truly the steeziest alive!

Agreed, so steezy. I wish I could somehow channel even a little bit of his talent into my body.

  • 2 0
So steezy, loves it all, those dump3’s a unreal.

... New era short travel, modern geo enduro bikes are mint to jump. A single speed Yeti 140 would be a DJ dream to hit up.

Sick riding there Christian. Wish you were still shredding around SLC so we can shred with you.

Carbon and cement doesn’t seem like the best idea
  • 5 0
 Cause it’s harder than granite?
  • 8 0
Carbon and cement is fine. It's when you add water and rocks to the cement, that's when it'll do some damage to a bike frame.
  • 1 0
Carbon and steel copings likewise seem like a bad idea.
