BC Bike Race – Another resounding success for year seven. Participants from 26 countries all over the globe whooped and hollered through the sunshine and singletrack of this year’s BC Bike Race. Smiles were the mainstay of the week. While the hot sun attempted to wear down the riders, nothing could stop the high flow of energy that filled the trails and base camps.

Finishing in Whistler after seven days of delirious singletrack and repeated enduro segments highlighting the flow that BC is known for, veteran racers pumped high fives and simultaneously cried.

Registration got off at an unprecedented rate, already at 75%. After the initial opening for registration July 7th at 12 pm, noon, the inbound server crashed due to the high volume of demand. Once back up, the server processed 170 registrants in 60 seconds. Within another hour old records had fallen and 415 racers of a possible 550 spots were sold.

BC Bike Race the top ‘Bucket List’ for mountain bikers around the world maintained the highest standards for courses, food, safety and fun over seven days as nearly 1000 people (staff, participants and support) travelled through six lower mainland communities: Cumberland, Campbell River, Powell River, Sechelt, Squamish and Whistler.

Tippie chasing you with a bullhorn while wearing that wig will make anybody mash a little harder on the pedals. Luckily, he gets tired after a few dozen kilometers.

there should be a BC Bike Ride for weekend warriors who desire the same effect. Probably more profitable as well.
  • 8 1
A weekend warrior can do BC Bike Race. Only the top 25% are racing and the others are there to have the best week of their life. During the Cumberland leg this year a couple of the riders went for a dip in the lake during the race. Not the best idea if you're racing, but a great idea if you want the full BC experience.  @madmon, 95% of BCBR finishers ARE weekend warriors, including myself. All you have to do is train to finish. If they 'dumbed' it down to a weekend, what's the point? You don't have to train for 6 months to ride for a weekend. Sign up and commit. You won't regret it.
