Thank you to the Okanagan

This year’s event (2022) saw racers journey through 7 distinct trail networks and 6 communities in the best fall riding weather possible; Kelowna at the Crawford trails, Salmon Arm both South Canoe and the Rubberhead, then on to exploring the heights of Silver Star Mountain Resort and it’s legendary Beowulf lap, returning to the valley below for stage 4, on the King Eddy Plateau high above Kalamalka Lake, the race then reached its highest point on Apex Mountain Resort and finally finished at Manitou beach in Naramata after an incredible route through the Three Blind Mice.

bigquotes“BCBR had an amazing journey in 2022, I’ve fallen in love with the Okanagan, this route, and these communities, we will be back, you can bet on that!”Andreas Hestler, co-founder

Towering Trees
Always the focus is amazing singletrack

This 2022 route, this journey through the Okanagan, traveled vertically 9765meters (916m more than the height of Everest (8849m)) and tasted 265.5 kilometers of mostly singletrack. An incredible feat for all of the mountain bikers that attended, from an astonishing 27 countries!

bigquotes“We are so fortunate in BC, with an abundance of mountains, dynamic terrain, hospitable communities, and that wonderful thing we all love – singletrack! See you in 2023!!”Dean Payne, co-founder

Just heard it will be back on the island last night. Awesome news. From what I've heard it will be purely on island (no ferries, means no delayed or missed sailings). That should make logistics a lot easier. Plenty of great trails on the island, though including Hornby would have been cool.

@fabwizard: the secret about Horns, has been out for over a decade...

@OlSkoolJake: good thing the ferries suck so bad it is keeping the masses away.

I was stuck on the Denman ferry twice this summer.

Wonder how much BCBR will contribute back to the maintenance/restoration of the trails after they get to make their gazzillions of dollars holding their event on the hammered trails at the beginning of the summer.
Just Wondering?????

@fat-hub: I thought the same thing, rode some of the trails they used this year over the weekend. They are toasted, all that extra traffic has not been friendly on the trial networks.

Great that they got Bam Margera to MC it

I'm sure those from the more Southerly latitudes will appreciate the return to the July timeslot.

Good news! I put it on my list (again).

What would be a good bike choice for this event? Full XC race bike or a light trail bike? I don't think my enduro rig will do me any favors.

120mm XC bike or 130mm ish “downcountry” bike.

 …shorter-ish stem with wider-ish bar.

 Whatever bike you have!

RM instinct BC edition. It has BC in the name, must be perfect.

Depends on your goals. Seems like the front of the pack is all fox 34 stepcast forks and short travel bikes, but there are people running Enduro bikes too. Being an islander I'd want 130mm-ish in the rear to have fun on the downhills (150/130 is a great setup for the island for recreational riding). Something like a Norco optic would be great.

Check out the Singletrack 6 event for that! Super fun, well organized, and always a rippin' selection of trails.
