"I'm proud to present "shaken and stirred" to you guys. I had a rough season this year with some crashes and injuries, but it's all good. We have been going pretty big on these bikes the last few years, and I didn't really expect the consequences to catch up this quick, I actually got so concussed this year that I forgot to do tricks ha ha. Enjoy this edit and play it loud!" - Makken

Is it just me or is anyone else getting a little bored of scree slope skidd footage where there isnt really any distinguished feeatures. I know it is a shit load steeper and faster than it looks on camera and I know it must be fun to throw carves out as if its a snow board, but on film its just skidding down a hill. When you have riders as talented as makken it seems a shame to make skid footage when he could be showing off a greater skill
  • + 4
The people riding those slopes don't seem to be bored of it..
  • + 2
 I'm with Azrun.
  • + 1
I reckon there's more skill involved in "just skidding down a hill" than you give it credit for...
  • + 3
for me it is the same. for instance when i bought where the trail ends i got a little bored after a few scenes. i mean i give the guys loads of credit for what they are able to ride, for the whole qualitiy and adventureous movie and all they did and do for the gravity sport. but it just didn't catch me that much. i can understand for neg popping me, but this is my feeling.
  • + 1
It's a totally valid opinion, no need to get neg propped! Where the trail ends is kinda like a whole movie about just dirt jumping, park riding, or enduro lol for some people like me WTTE is our favorite bike film, for others it's boring.
  • + 1
@Azrun,i can tell by your comment that you've never done big mountain biking before. its takes tons of talent to go down that stuff that fast, i always thought it would be easy until i tried it, it is extremely difficult and hard to do, and did you not watch the whole vid he was sending big jumps and stuff as well, not just "skidding down a hill"!
  • - 1
@Cliff-E Unfortunately I live in an area with no big mountain I would love to try it! and I can understand that those hills are burly and steep as shit, loose as hell and hard to ride but unfortunately on camera it doesnt look as steep and it does visually look like it is just skiiding down a hill which I know it isn't just an opinion on what I think looks great in an edit and I did watch it all just the main part was the big mountain riding. cheeers
  • + 0
@Cliff-e, just because it takes talent to do it does not mean it is enjoyable to watch. Maybe once or twice, but after the 20th time it really isn't fun to watch regardless of the talent it requires.
  • + 2
@h-beck83 so your saying you don't like it yet you insist on watching big mountain footage 20 times? Newsflash, if your not into it no need to watch it again. Go check some of that enduro stuff! I think you'll find its more to your liking, also check out endurosash.com i hear there having a sweet giveaway and you could win a free multicolored enduro sash!!#bigmountainsucks#enduroisin

You are a serious Douche-bag. First, you really don't know it's part of the video until you watch, and second, that part of it is the only part I don't see exciting. DH videos are generally badass compared to any other discipline of bike riding, but I guess I should keep my opinions to myself so not to offend the communist cry-babies that think there can only be one way to see things.
  • + 0
Go blow your inflatable whale child!
  • + 0
.....and I'm not talking about watching the same video 20 times. That would be 20 different videos.
  • + 2
hahah no problem bro, personally i love big mountain riding but i can see your side of the story too.... no need to lose your marbles over some jokesWink

Great song choices, went well with that gnar

Makken is so badass! He's a fricken viking, just never stops, and he has such a good attitude towards biking, similar to Lacondeguy: have fun, and don't give a shit what people think!
  • + 0
He doesn't seem to care if a tree might be in his way, punches right through.
  • + 13
that shook me to pieces. now im stirred
  • + 8
Nice one makken, always fun to meet a guy when he is unconscious. Just happy you didn't fight me when ya woke up! Hah. So stoked that head bash wasn't worse
  • + 8
That huck to FLAT on the atv!
  • + 19
The point back and determined stare had me in hysterics.
  • + 5
that first part of the vid genuinely scared me...was waiting for the crash on several of the jumps and when it did it sounded sooo painful....really nice riding though.
  • + 5

  • + 1
Rough & harsh way of riding... this video is a real stormer... is it the "Vicking Touch" ?
  • + 2
single speed back wheel? also, loved the edit and riding!
  • + 1
No he only runs 3 gears as I remember
  • + 1
Pretty sure it is single speed.
  • + 2
Based on this bike check vid. vimeo.com/99766550 He says he's on single speed no shifter at 1:00. But at 0:35-0:37 I see 3 cogs. Probably manually adjusted via limit screws.
  • + 1
I just remembered from a rampage vid that he runs 3 cogs, I never looked if he has a shifter though
  • + 2
He rides singlespeed, probably the other cogs are in case that the chain "jumps" off the cog he is using
  • + 1
@JoseBravo yeah that's what I was thinking too. Do you know how his rear mech stays tight though when his rear shock compresses. He said in his bike check he doesn't run a shifter. On my mech I need to use the cable to keep it in place
  • + 1
I have no idea hahaha, this is the closest photo you will ever see of the mechanism www.pinkbike.com/photo/11188344 stolen from www.pinkbike.com/u/makken/blog/makken-bike-check.html wrote from the man himself
  • + 1
He's riding single speed. The derailleur is there to keep the chain tight. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think that the derailleur setup is stock, just without the wires and shifters. A few other guys I know are riding modified SRAM-derailleurs where you cut the middle part (which changes gears) and only keep the chain tensioner, which looks even cleaner in my opinion.
  • + 1
I ride long travel single speed and use a Shimano Alfine chain tensioner. similiar to a derailluer but is cleaner looking, lighter and holds the chain tighter.
  • - 1
I hate to be the guy to start this...but wasn't some of that footage sped up? I'm Down with
the slow mo...just no fast mo....
