A big day in the rain today for the racers of the Superenduro (Italian Enduro Series), it was exciting and grueling. Unfortunately, stage three was forced to be canceled due to the medical staff being unable to walk along the track and it was deemed too dangerous.
Even without stage three, it was still a big day with lots of riding and varying terrain. The rain came down hard all of last night and continued on throughout the day, which led to loads of crashes.
The race was ultimately won by Vittorio Gambirasio, who took an early lead of 20 seconds in the first stage. Nicola Casadei took second position, closely followed by Alex Lupato. In the women’s Laura Rossin took the win, Noga Korem finished almost two minutes back, and Jessica Bormlini took third position.
Stormy skies looked over today's Superenduro.
A very familiar feeling for all the riders today, most people told me they'd had at least one crash.
Stormy skies overhead all day.
Smiles and mud, you might not expect the latter from Italy, but it put smiles on a lot of peoples faces.
