Banshee Wildcard - Back in the Pack

Apr 2, 2012 at 10:40
by Banshee Bikes
After a 2 year absence from their range, Banshee will once again be dealing the Wildcard this summer. You'll have to act fast if you want in though, as this hand is strictly limited to 50 individually numbered frames worldwide.

Wildcard

Banshee would like your help to decide on the colour-scheme for the limited edition frames. Place your bets in the poll below & the colour-scheme with the most votes will go into production.

Banshee Wildcard 2013 - Yellow

Banshee Wildcard 2013 - Purple

Banshee Wildcard 2013 - Blue

Banshee Wildcard 2013 - Red

Banshee Wildcard 2013 - Grey

The Wildcard is an extremely versatile Freeride frame with adjustable geometry & suspension travel. This relatively lightweight frame has a super low stand-over height which makes it great in the air & very easy to trick. If you're looking for the ideal bike for turning up the style in the bike park, the Wildcard fits the bill. If you'd rather take on the backcountry, the Wildcard offers a full-length seat tube & cable guides for a front derailleur. Equally at home shredding turns as it is hitting jumps, the Wildcard is a whole lot of fun.

Sizes - small, medium, large
Travel - adjustable between 130mm & 165mm
Geometry - adjustable to suit your riding style
Frame spec - Hydroformed 7005 Alloy construction with 1.5" head tube, ISCG05 tabs & internally ribbed stays for increased stiffness

The Wildcard will be available in August 2012. See your local Banshee Dealer for full details on how to buy in.

If only 50 are being made - then why not give the buyer the choice of colour?? Big Grin
  • 7 1
 agreed!
  • 6 5
the obvious answer being cost for the manufacturer
  • 11 0
Have a sticker kit!!!! Or it should come with all the different colours in stickrs and you can mix and match!
  • 3 0
they got to put stickers under clear coat, so it doesn't look cheap
  • 2 4
@dv8416 cuz only 50 are being made
  • 7 5
Wow. 50 dudes are going to have to explain how different their Banshee is than a Kona every time they take it out.. Glad it comes in custom colors.
  • 10 0
Killer vid Banshee dudes. This bike is a top notch do it all bike. I think I speak for all the people by saying"we need more than 50"!
  • 2 1
Standard way of how Banshee does things. They may be slower to get new designs out, but when they go to production they are the best it can be.

SO banshee decides to bring back a bike with geo that was outdated 2 years ago? and only make 50? I get the whole exclusivity thing but coming from a business background I see this as an epic fail. Banshee needs to get their shit together. They have the potential to make way better bikes then they do, and no offence to Keith @ Banshee, he know's whatsup! I have a feeling other staff members aren't listening to what the industry wants.
  • 5 1
A bike with out-dated geo?! its completely adjustable to suit the rider. I fail to see how it could possibly be out-dated..
They have the potential to make amazing bikes, and they do.
  • 2 0
Exactly HOW is it adjusted though... are they relying on an angleset headset or some sort of eccentric shock mount bolts ?
  • 3 1
its adjusted by shock position on the link - it has a ludicrously high bb and steep head angle and rides pretty terribly in it long travel setting - i kept mine in the 4.5" setting even for big jumps and drops, but still the most unlovable bike i've ever ridden, had lots of bad experiences with mine
  • 1 0
@ctd07, you nailed it. I think it's still a very fun bike though at the shorter travel setting.
I love mine but they 100% need to do some tweaking to the geo to fix these problems. LISTEN UP BANSHEE

Looks nice in blue. Has anything changed with the frame, is this a re-release or an updated release?
  • 4 2
 why so few?
  • 4 2
Blue looks best with standard Fox 36 fork colors...Yellow was second choice for me Big Grin
  • 5 1
 or is it Chartreuse?
  • 3 1
Part exclusivity, and part demand I imagine.
  • 4 1
Lower Supply. Raise Price. Simple economics. Smart move by them to gain interest
  • 4 1
a mate of mine has one of these and it would have to be one of the sweetest frames ever. the suspension feel is just perfect, even though its a single pivot design its just so plush. you can get off any bike, then hop on the wildcard and it just feels right straight away, there is just that something special about it. bring it back into full production banshee, its a ripper!
  • 3 1
regardless of colours or how many ,wildcards are great and there a monster of a bike.nothing like a kona for people that claim they are.slopestyle couldnt give a shit its a great all round bike anyone thats rode one knows what i mean for all the haters you dont know shit
  • 6 1
This is a re-release - no changes to the frame.
  • 2 2
 So...still bushings?
  • 3 0
No bushings... The Wildcard always ran on bearings
  • 1 0
My mistake, then. Still good news!
  • 3 1
 So... why only 50?
  • 3 0
Thanks for publishing the stack and reach with the geometry on your website, very helpful!
  • 6 1
Yeah, why 50? That's like saying 'We're making this really cool bike, and we know you all want it, but we're retarded so we're giving all those sales to NS bikes and BlkMrkt'.
  • 5 1
Makes perfect sense to me. Their factory has a minimum requirement of 50. Do a limited run, evaluate the demand and set full production numbers from there.
  • 4 0
The wildcard is one of the best all round bikes ever Sing me up for a blue

owned over a dozen Banshee frames, and the Wildcard (along with Rampant) were the most fun of all of them!!

ap1.pinkbike.org/p4pb1916331/p4pb1916331.jpg

WC was super reliable with its simple construction, dependable suspension system and sealed ball bearings with tough axle hardware, and brilliant all round geometry with 115mm-160mm adjustable fork like Lyric Coil U-Turn

ap1.pinkbike.org/p4pb1970040/p4pb1970040.jpg

absolutely loved my WC, sold dozens of them to UK riders (under the Mythic name) and would like to see more than 50 in this LTD production run!
  • 3 0
judging by the comments, it looks like the limited run is already starting to successfully prove that exclusivity is working at making this frame more valuable.
  • 3 1
 great colours!
but it was absent?
the banshee site could be a bit more up to date in general (frame colours etc.)
and some info about the rune v1.5 and v2 would be nice
  • 4 0
 I always wanted a Wildcard!
  • 2 2
i personally think they should offer all of those sick colours. BUT only sell and make them on an orderly basis. so that way any one can get their hands on one. but they have to place an order for one, that way the consumer gets what they want and banshee dosent have to worry about making to many frames and some of them not sell. just my thoughts.
  • 2 0
Sweet does it come with a Rosetta stone to decipher the name? That logo doesnt work, If I have ot spend time deciphering it, and its un-legible for no reason then it sucks.
  • 1 0
What's the point releasing just 50?!its madness.they will all be snapped up by the canadians and none left for anyone else.i doubt 5000 frames us enough let alone 50!
  • 3 0
Looks nice, I could see this being a huge hit
  • 7 2
selling 50 of anything is rarely considered a huge success.
  • 2 1
Its not about claiming a huge success. It is about evaluating demand before doing a full blown production. This bike has not be made for a few years. Yes, it has been available, but that is from past stock.
  • 2 0
the 2007 or 2005 frames are the same. the market has been tested. the demand for 50 frames is not the same as demand for hundreds of frames. in fact, it's artificial demand because the numbers are so few that they will automatically be met.
  • 1 0
Can't believe so many people are voting for the yellow bike. That thing is straight-up fugly.
  • 1 0
Will be made available in August '12, they meant this limited edition frames or for mass production?
  • 3 1
Now wheres the green in the poll? Id like to voe for that..
  • 2 0
 Soooooooooooo nice! Drool
  • 4 2
50 bikes??? like what the f*ck?
  • 2 0
Really. They should at least make more than 50. Banshee is pretty much just teasing every mtb rider out there by only releasing 50 Wildcards. Banshee needs to make the Wildcard on the basis of "order one, make one" so that they don't make to many frames, and so that everyone can have one.
  • 3 1
 Wheres the black ano option?
  • 3 1
 Or the classic banshee raw??
  • 4 2
I am going to avoid all this hype... and enjoy my killswitch!
  • 1 0
i see it on there website it says nothing about only 50 being mad what is happening?
  • 1 0
none of the above...... try something new or diferrent, how about bronze, or nickel plated. mango or green...
  • 1 0
 yellow, without a doubt...
  • 1 0
 Standart card-logo was better Wink
  • 2 0
 Wannntttt, so sleek!!
  • 2 0
 Yellow one, please.
  • 2 2
I like the yellow and the purple. Make both of those the limited or do somehow both yellow and pruple Smile
  • 1 1
I also agree with Njdfan101, Make 10 of each colour.
  • 2 1
I'd pick green, same as the decal pictured at top.
  • 2 3
To be honest I expected updated geo at least. It would be a much better park bike if in the big travel setting it was much lower.
  • 1 0
Guys I'm a banshee fan, why the neg prop hate? I would just want an updated wildcard though I know banshee can't update all their bikes at once.
  • 2 0
 1 day late april fools.
  • 1 0
I only buy it when they make the frame in 29"...lol
  • 1 1
How about all of the colours? Big Grin
  • 1 1
Am i the only one who wants all the colors ?
  • 1 0
 ohhhhh bbayaayayyayaybay
  • 1 1
Im wondering if it's safe to run 100mm fork??
  • 6 0
it's always safe to run 100mm. ideal? probably not.
  • 2 1
160mm is best for the Wildcard.
  • 5 0
Why would you want to? Its designed around a much longer fork.

I want it to be more slope because i don't like 160mm
  • 8 1
 buy a slopestyle frame.
  • 2 4
Or when I get a fork it will be slopestyle :O
  • 2 0
they actually have a slopestyle frame. i'm not sure why anyone would tailor a frame to work for them rather than just picking the right frame.

I don't want a rampant Smile it's nbd I think it will be ssick with 100 mm
  • 9 0
No, it would be silly with 100mm. People are trying to give you good advice.
  • 9 1
I think you should do it... it would be hilarious.
  • 1 0
 I'll go with 130
  • 1 0
 Ur silly hahaha 130 then
  • 1 0
You will just screw up the geo of the bike with a that low fork.... lol
  • 1 0
its rides fine with 110mm forks and a zero stack headset, much better for jumping like it but a bit twitchy at speed, best suited to a travel adjustable fork

  • 1 0
Yah I had a 100 mm on it and I thought it felt way better then 160. Iwanted a pike 454uturn
  • 4 4
This is retarded, 50 frames worldwide, why?
  • 1 0
 Where do i get one?
