As the dust settles at Redhill Extreme, have a look at the highlights from the weekend's action and see who was crowned the British 4x Series Champion for 2018!

It was still all to play for in most of the categories this year, making the final round a thriller to all who came on Sunday and also on the live feed. There was a dual slalom race the day before so most people stayed to watch or race.

The conditions were perfect with little wind and the track was fast to make it an exciting finale!

First turn carnage could put you first or last, even with a good gate start.

The 180-degree first turn threw riders straight into battle. Riders who had a good gate start could protect or rail the outside, whereas slower riders could gamble and inside the turn to push riders wide or even over the top of the berm. This was one of the main passing places on the track, but it didn't stop there.

Same in the second turn.

The second 180-degree turn gave riders a chance to get back ahead or maintain momentum into the first straight. The turns may look grippy, but the dust made it easy to slide out and lose vital places in the motos for points.

It was still all to play for on the first straight, Dec Willicombe coming from behind and gaining momentum.

The first and main straight is long with multiple line options to choose from, allowing riders to pass and put the pressure on the rider in front.

There were manuals, doubles and triples for riders to handle.

There were plenty of jumps further down.

Unfortunately, Josie Mcfall found out how hard the floor is with her shoulder. She came back from the hospital not to miss the overall podium.

The Pro Line was a good spot to gain a position.

The Pro Line was the perfect length as it was around two seconds quicker, this could decide a position or allow someone to catch up. You could also inside the corner before and force people around the slower line which made for some interesting moves.

With only one grass turn to go, there were some daring moves to force people out of the way. With the championship on the line, people did not hold back and you could see it throughout the day.

As the points were added, there was not a lot separating people so people were on edge to know the end result. Some people were happy and some were kicking their heels, but everyone is already fired up for 2019.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved this year to make the series great!

Amazing end to a fantastic year for the Schwalbe British 4X Series. The track always produces great racing and this year was some of the best yet. 4X continues to be the best value, most fun you can have on a mountain bike in a day. Entry fees are cheap, your friends and family can see you start to finish and the riders are all super friendly and helpful. 2019 dates will be out soon with some more news about the series and great plans for next year. Stay tuned. SB

4x delivered awesome racing this weekend with the 4x family at Redhill, what a facility! Let me also say how accessible 4x is, my little brother raced on a second hand, single speed dirt jump bike and still managed the podium. Looking forward to seeing you all on the gate next year.
