Press Release: Big Mountain Enduro

2020 will mark the beginning of a new era for Big Mountain Enduro. After a successful 2019 season, the Yeti Cycles Big Mountain Enduro presented by Maxxis will once again return to several of the top mountain biking venues in America, offering more action at each stop for participants, spectators and sponsors.

In typical BME fashion, each tour stop will feature 13 categories, including the recently formed sport division, allowing riders of all abilities and ages to compete. New for 2020 is an open e-bike category for men and women. The e-bike categories will only be available at select venues and they will typically race on the same courses to regular Enduro racers, subject to permitting and local laws. Three exclusive venues will take part in the e-bike action and those 3 stops will be counted towards the overall series points.

Also, Big Mountain Demos will make its debut in 2020 and be a signature component at each stop on the tour. The Big Mountain Demos will feature the top mountain bike manufacturers and accessory brands providing the opportunity for the racers and public to test the latest products. The BME Media Tent will be new in 2020 as well, giving sponsors, destination partners and riders, access to photo and video content in a timely manner.

BME 2020 will kick off in Santa Fe, New Mexico on May 23rd-24th, then head north to Angel Fire, New Mexico on June 13th-14th. The third stop will take racers to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in Winter Park on August 1st for some high-altitude racing. The BME Finals location, slated for mid-August, will be announced in the coming weeks, along with other important news and sponsor updates. Early bird online registration for the first three stops will open Friday, October 11th, so make sure to mark your calendars and get on it, as these events will sell out in advance.

If WP would put in more tech trails it could be a good, currently its mediocre at best for enduro. But right now its used because of its proximity to Denver and their title sponsor so that the Yeti factory team can stop in and sweep the podium.

Our 4th/Finals venue hasn't been announced yet. Don't rule out Big Sky yet! We love the riding up in that zone, and working with the Big Sky team, thus they are a huge potential candidate for BME Finals 2020. Stay tuned in the coming weeks....

@BigMtnEnduro: Just hope you avoid Telluride or just think it through a little better. Eminent thunderstorms, lift hard closing time...Let's send the groms last. Seemed like a boneheaded move.

@dcamp2 Ummm yep! Rode the 2016 Santa Fe BME, 35 miles and 7500' of climbing. Talk about a great equalizer!

@AirBud: BME doesn't do that kind of enduro anymore. Its become more like staged downhill racing. Fitness is not very important anymore.

Hold the phone, is that a coil on a carbon Ripmo?

I like that all the announced venues so far are accessible to folks from all over the country (only a little over 12 hour drive from Arkansas to any of those venues). Not so when you start moving to Big Sky, which while epic, is hard to access for the weekend warrior living further East.
  • 11 1
Well you don't have any big mountains when moving further east...
