We'll get to the race in a moment, but firstly you are probably asking what has the season been like so far at Kicking Horse? That's a very emotional question. Here's a moving answer:

That's the happy answer. The sad answer is that we are still waiting for SWAMP DONKEY to reopen. We've had parts problems with the mini-ex that have been far from easy to solve. But the end of the wait draws nearer and when the machine is stitched back together we'll put every effort into opening this jump line.

The other happy answer is that WILD ROSE has been mostly re-routed. So much so that we don't even call it that any more. We are very pleased with the new direction the race course has taken with this addition. We hope the racers in the upcoming Western Open will also be pleased. Have a look:

The new bottom section of the race course improves on the old like watermelon improves on sour grapes.

Otherwise, small tweaks continue to happen, and big plans are considered. The glorious views and fun cycling stay spectacular. And you should try out the via ferrata course while you are here. Reports are that it will leave you in delightful suspense.

Home Run is a photographer s go-to for a shot at KHBP.

The twists before this hip were reduced to keep enough speed to enjoy the beejezus out of this hip.

The track is fantastic, a proper DH course. This is what nationals should have been held on. I would have loved to have seen what Stevie Smith and the like could have pulled off on it. A few sections are more technical than what you see on the WC circuit these days. There's still that small pedally bit in the new stuff, but compared to the long slog along the bottom in years past this is fine. For all the riders that love the steep, technical stuff and making full use of their big bikes, this is the one.

Rode there a couple weeks back. The new Scott Gamblers are awesome. First run was great but then the skies opened up. The following runs were of the "hold on and avoid the slippery rocks" variety. Watch out at the end of Superberm, lots of changes, but improved. Some, or all, of the wood features could use some chicken wire. Avoid when wet. Lots of changes from previous year. Good work KH, keep it up! See you again real soon.

The song choice is beautiful! The song itself isn't great, but paired with the vid it's a great choice and alternative to a lot of the same stuff that is out there. The problem with this is that the visuals and cuts aren't timed well enough to make this work. Not to slam the filmmakers though - it's difficult and a looooong process. Props for the effort!

Very excited for this race and another fun round of the Dunbar summer series! Those guys and Exley know how to run an event!! On and off the hill Smile Looks like a technical rough track and that gets me amped!

You guys are doing lots of great work!. But please oh please can you fill in the bomb holes and upgrade the wooden ghetto berms on super-berm. Cheers.

The music choice was so horrendous in the first video I was scared to open the second. There are things in human history that should only be remembered not to be repeated. That song is one of them!

@Boardlife69 sorry man, its just that people rag on so-called "enduro" all the time and how its "ruined the sport".

it becomes hard to distinguish between sarcasm and seriousness, esp on the internet.

also sarcasm is a skill, and i see a total lack of skill in your first comment

I have a 93 M2 hanging on my wall in the garage. It held up for 18 years and countless XC, DS and DH races to the tune of 30,000+ miles. I retired it because it was old, not broke. It was an incredible bike. It was my 3rd mtb. The geometry is too jacked up these days, compared to my new relaxed bikes, to ride it seriously. That thing loved to be pushed hard and always rewarded you for the effort.

You have lots of inspiring edits posted?
  • 1 1
Do you mean, if I don't do video edits I have to love any mtb video coming my way? If you rode in that video, I'm sorry bro, I didn't like your riding, maybe that's the operator fault Smile

No I don't. video is an art, the best and most valid way to critique a work of art it to ask two Qs: 1 what message does it deliver ? 2 does it effectively deliver that message?
Would you tell the creator of the vid to their face it is uninspiring? I think that would be kinda harsh. I think it takes bawls to post an edit up here.

No I am not suggesting you need to love erry vid that comes your way. But we are better off if we seek value as apposed to seeking weakness. Love it hate it thats fine. telling ppl its lame kinda harsh. I dont have enough bawls to put my gp footy up and perhaps that is because of this type of criticism. that is unfortunate because perhaps if that was not a issue I could help people see things i have ridden and maybe even receive helpful tips about my riding or locations or video creation...

Well, I see this edit as a commercial video, not an art. I'm ok with the video, I can go constructive on the video, but who cares? Smile My comment was about the riding, it kinda looks the way I would have ridden it on a rented bike, second time maybe Smile And for example videos like "loam factory" really made me want to go and hit it hard Smile it's all subjective, just sayin'.

I would tell it to the face, depending on how the creator or the rider is presenting themselves of course.
