Commencal 100% Riders Rip in California - Video

Feb 23, 2018 at 6:31
by COMMENCAL bicycles

Our crew of American riders has been steadily growing from strength to strength since the opening of the Commencal USA HQ in 2015.

Racing the Pro GRT series across the US together during the European winter, Steven Walton, firing into his first elite year in 2018, and Bruce Klein, our new recruit to the freshly named Commencal 100% Team are both already bagging some sweet results with a podium together in the first round at Fontana!

But at the end of the day, it’s all about thrashing about on your bike and who can scrub hell out of what with the most style… We think they’ve nailed that!

Perhaps they own stock in the nearby medical clinic?

way to blow that shiyt up commencal. street cred sub zero

 Sub zero... baaahahahaha awesome @sqwiby:
  • 34 6
Pros think they own the place....I doubt any of them have done a dang thing to help build or maintain it. It's all about the likes and the pay from publicity. I stopped showing industry people the trails I ride...
  • 14 6
@Loamhuck: Atherton family loves to ride and not dig. blew up our spot in a residential neighborhood too and on their lame ass youtube. channel. for the bird, tits or gtfo
  • 8 0
Combined with the demo at EC's trails....fail.
  • 17 1
@Loamhuck: Bruce and Steven have both worked on that trail numerous times
  • 1 0
@pbullard2017 That was the first thing I thought before I even clicked!!! ????????
  • 2 4
So funny when all the pro/semi pro boys blow a spot the f*ck up w no digging and even help keep it a secret. Meanwhile the super duper dope secret spot withers because no dig no ride no pro no ride no swag no ride @Loamhuck:
  • 7 3
@titoholt: lol do you have any idea about the Athertons. Do a two minute search and you'll see how wrong you are - id guess they dig more than maybe any pro.
  • 4 1
@kleinblake: I am very happy to hear that, good on them! I wish that was the same for other situations like this. It happens all too often and really takes it's toll. Pro's should really help with grassroots trail and access issues since they have the biggest microphone. That would tilt the scales a bit...
  • 5 0
Such as different riding culture in here, where all the downhill trails are illegal.
  • 6 0
@Loamhuck: most of DH pros are builders or use to build to get higher level. Take a look at the Rampage athletes or the local rippers posting trails they build social media.
  • 4 1
@titoholt: I guess you've never been to Wales then........?
  • 7 0
If this trail is so secret a bigger step might be to remove it from trail forks.....

  • 1 1
@titoholt: YOU MEAN TED WILLIAMS, you're talking about ted williams right?
  • 1 1
@russthedog: not on my trail they didn't. I worked my ass off all winter to get shredded and lost to pros blowing up the spot in a private neighborhood. the people were sick of the huge vans and parking ect. I don't have explain, youre just a pro hoe. go get pegged by Rachel.
  • 1 1
@nojzilla: nope. but they've been to my spot.
  • 1 1
@jewpowered: no, it was a rad spot we had going that very few new about. its shit now that the residents shut it down.
  • 1 0
@titoholt: I was just kidding, obviously we are at a complete loss for local trails. I have been working for years with GP and local coordinators to work towards legal riding spots and throwing dig days in on local spots. It's certainly a dog eat dog mentality here, I don't blame people for wanting to ride, but I also understand builders apprehensions.

Who’s the boner that titled this? I thought it was agreed this place was to be called Trinidad Colorado.
  • 14 1
well Vital calls it trinidad colorado, but pinkbike cant be seen to be stealing all their content from Vital or learning from their morals so they probably thought they had to change it up a bit with the brilliant "lol lets call it the real name bros" idea.
  • 4 1
@chup29: but commencal is the author
  • 15 0
 @poozank: dont logic me
  • 3 0
lolol I've fallen for that line a few times trying to figure out where this exact trail is. Guess now I know!
  • 35 2
 Isn't this trinidad Colorado?
  • 15 0
 It very certainly is
  • 32 1
If you could not post the name of the trail on the front page that'd be great.
  • 26 1
Definately not in crestline not sure why the title says that
  • 13 0
In bike culture, this is considered a dick move.

From the number of commenters, complaing about giving away the location of this trail, i sense that maybe the location wasn't that much of a secret after all. Seems to me, that riders who didn't know it, will not go there because it is to far away.
  • 16 12
Yeah me and my 150 xc buddies that just started riding yesterday are going to soon and just skid all over. I really don't understand this entitled surfer like attitude towards a trail..

Yeah trail builders there worked and continue to work their ass to build and maintain that line, but in sure as hell they also ride outside their zip codes, where other dedicated riders work hard as well to maintain their local lines...

Can't we all get along??
  • 4 3
the problem is pros not building. happened on a trail me and my boys maintain with the Atherton nerds.
  • 17 2
You joke but this does happen. Or people show up can’t do the trail so they modify the feature to their current skills. Or someone who has no business being there gets hurt and you have a legal fiasco. Don’t be naive.
  • 2 1
Might want to bring an ambulance as that is not an XC trail. There are so many ways to break bones.
  • 1 0
 @poozank: like TED!!!
  • 5 0
Thanks for disclosing the location! Although those 100% kits can be seen from space. Me and a large crew are heading that way pronto! JK!
  • 3 1
You'll be let down. It was not actually Crestline.
  • 5 0
Please send lats and longs so I can make ride-arounds for all features and destroy berms with joey braking. Thanks commencal!
  • 3 0
pips are crying for the name drop. Bwhahaha! wait, did I miss a Pin drop on Google Maps posted somewhere on there? That name is been out for years, videos everywhere but people just don't know where exactly it is. That trail have been around for more than some of the riders age who are crying here, the trail technically is no secret to some people newbies or advanced riders, but some are just not that encourage to go since it's too damn far from everything! LOL! and some here commenting for the fact that they just hate Commencal! hahaha

 CHANGE THE FECKIN TITLE MUFUGGASSSSS
  • 8 2

  • 7 1
Always love when they post this illegal trail. Nice work guys.
  • 3 1
Everyone's shitting on the title but is this not Gee using basically the same title for the same trail?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6osWo0nd1mc

Seems kinda nervy to get mad at someone for riding a trail you shouldn't be on to begin with.
  • 1 0
man you Canadians are nerds. you probably don't J walk either.
  • 3 0
Sick vid, finally some good music too! And to everyone saying you shouldn’t be riding illegal trails, I don’t think you understand how hard it is to have a legal trail, especially in California

who put this title can someone come forward and be a man...............................we all get to give him one lash.or cane each
  • 12 11
Damn, a lot of hate being thrown about here. Is this politics or mountain biking?? How about some love for @dillon425 for not only being a sick rider, but pretty good at video edits too. So maybe your local trail got exposed... purchase the land and throw up some fencing if you wanna keep it private. As for that pros comment... yea, maybe more digging and maintenance should be contributed, but without pros the bike industry would not be where it is today. That goes for any sport actually...
  • 9 3
This is mountain biking, and people who enjoy mountain biking on this particular trail would like to be able to continue to do so and therefore would prefer its location be kept off the internet. It's been filmed a lot and that is why everyone else who's filmed there has omitted the location. This is not the first mountain biking trail to have this etiquette and it won't be the last. It's not hate, people are pointing out an issue that Commencal needs to step up and fix. I don't think the criticism is being directed at Dillon, but if he is the one who slipped up and included the location, he should make sure it gets changed.
  • 4 3
@Geerumm "purchase the land and throw up some fencing if you wanna keep it private"

"pretty good at video edits"....not really, the whole thing was in fast motion which just makes it lame.
  • 5 2
@brihaf: I get your point, but ultimately what you are saying is... "keep it hush so I can continue riding illegal trail." Two wrongs don't make a right. As for posting the location... the PB comments have pretty much narrowed it down to longitude/latitude. The only thing left is to add a pin drop on Google maps

@Snowytrail: That's cool if you prefer slow-mo
  • 5 2
@geerumm: Yes, that is what I am saying. Welcome to the world of unofficial mountain biking trails. If we all keep them off the internet, we can continue to ride them. Guys like Bruce and Steven can keep training on them. If you think its wrong to ride unofficial trails and choose not to, that's fine. But these guys obviously ride this trail and Commencal chose to film a video on it, so the community of other mountain bikers that ride it would appreciate if Commencal would follow the generally agreed upon etiquette and remove the location. The comments are in response to the fact that the location is named in the title of the video.
  • 5 1
I was referring to the 95% of comments are coming from Californians. Thus narrowing down its' location. These are the same people who complain about droubts and then cry when there's too much rain (I was born in CA so I have the right to call them out). Trail etiquette?? I used to think it was a problem in North America, but now that I'm in New Zealand I can tell you that it no longer exists. The world is huge and there are tons of places to ride. Legally. Furthermore, if you're breaking a rule and/or law, then you have ZERO right to call-out someone else for their actions.
  • 1 0
Much love!! Great video thanks for sharing!!! Motivation for the upcoming season ????????????
  • 1 0
@geerumm: welcome to the world of DH video edits!
  • 3 0
These are the same guys who tried to have a bike demo day at one of the local spots that has been shut down a few years ago..
  • 3 0
I didn't see that as a Problem at all. Them parking along where everyone's parked with their trailer and handing over their Bikes to anyone who wants to Demo? It would definitely would've looked just like another weekend when about over a hundred riders parked along the street then riding their rigs to the trail head. Can you really tell someone was there for a Demo? Hahaha!
  • 1 1
@jsev23: It's one thing for riders in the community to ride trails built by riders in the same community (and kudos for the builders), it's another for a foreign company not involved with the community and trail advocacy to take commercial advantage of other people hard work. It's especially rude when it's a company selling chinese products and not supporting local bike shops and other local businesses.
I would not care for my neighbors kids playing in my fontyard, I would if a business stealing our jobs would organize events there. My 2 cents.
  • 1 0
"It's especially rude when it's a company selling chinese products and not supporting local bike shops and other local businesse " WOW that's some serious stuff!
@max2max: Chinese products? you mean built in China or Taiwan? I don't about you but if you turn the majority of the Bikes upside down, there's a big tag saying "maid in Taiwan" on em, specially Carbon frames. Intense a local and US brand, don't let that fool you, their frames are built from Taiwan!
So should we not allow non local riders(LA,OC,SFV) to ride the trails? But I don't think you really got my point. I said, what's the difference "riding in from Mapleton along with other riders who rides there regularly?" come on now, you denying that there's more than 100 riders out there on a good Saturday? If I may add, one of their Pro rider is actually from nearby town and he does and have done plenty of trail work in there.
  • 3 1
Funny seeing trails you rode 30+ years ago being used for DH. Used to ride the unofficial BMX track that was right by there a friend built.

@Mickerz: Shhh. Used to sneak on the tramploines too and ride the empty pool across the street.
  • 5 3
I swear u guys better change the title, this trail isn't in crest line and all of u looking for it will be disappointed. The trail is in Colorado, more specifically Trinidad.
  • 4 3
Yeah, Commencal is showing again its disrespect for communities! Organize e-bikes demo on private trails, publicize un-sanctioned trails. Another dick move on a long list.. Time for boycott!! Too bad they have sick riders
