Must Watch: Bike Surfing in Portugal with Josh Bryceland & the Cannondale Waves Crew

Feb 3, 2020 at 15:18
by Cannondale Bikes

The Cannondale Waves crew take their name seriously. Spending their days surfing round looking for the best spots, the boys found themselves in Portugal at Chiba Bike Farm. With the cameras out to capture the madness, finding the perfect wave was the goal.

bigquotesWhen we arrived, I wanted to find a rock that represented a wave that we were able to ride. James (Wharnecliffe Trail Works) snuck off in the night to do some ‘digging’ – it was all very suspicious. When we rolled up in the morning, James had gone all out and turned an almighty rock into an insane rideable sculpture. The following days were filled with riding, more digging and filming.Josh Bryceland

Finding their groove on the Wave Rock sent the boys off into the bike park. The trip wasn’t all smooth sailing. Max Nerurkar took a huge slam breaking his collarbone forcing an early departure. A quick recovery back home saw Max back on the bike in no time.

The Waves crew are coming in hot for another year with Cannondale. Expect to see more exciting projects aboard their Habits and new machines on the horizon.

This is just a taste of what is to come.

@bigtim DIY it appears, ala Toby Price in Dakar cutting everyone and anyone's hair. I like to imagine they are all pushing themselves with the horror of Josh cutting their hair.

I'm 34, expecting my second baby in a few weeks and this just makes me want to call up all my buddies, jump on a plane and go drink beers, smoke a doobie, and try to do some dumb shit and ride some trails. Amazing!

When is Cannondale going to come out with the jib edition so that you can buy Ratboy's bike setup rather than build up a frame?

3:00 mark, just savage as he turns around to peep his own roost. amazing.
  • 1 0
There’s some switchbacks on one of my local trails where you ride through your own roost on the next turn... reminds me very much of the time the wind turned while I was having a piss. Do not recommend.

Ratty has some style no two ways about it.
  • 4 0
I still miss Ratboy from the world cups...
  • 7 0
amen to that. ratty keep the 'zero fucks' spirit alive. i think its part of why people love amaury so much, the slight hint of being a bit unhinged.
  • 1 0
Mesmerizing - love the music and really like how it was shot later in the evening with shadows.....comes across very laid back, buddies just ripping and having a good time.....A+

50-01 and the wave crew are making me wish I didn't have knock block on my Trek. I'd give up some downtube stiffness for the ability to spin the bars...

I used to think these guys just dicked around in picnic sites. But now I'm a convert.

Amen brothers. Surf inspired riding almost as good as getting covered in that perfect green olive shaped barrel then smashing the lip as you emerge. Keep it coming.
