Event Report: Great Days Livigno 2021

On the 16th to 18th July 2021 teams of mtb enthusiasts from all around Europe rode the trails of Livigno for the bike treasure hunt “Tutti Frutti Challenge” and for the other initiatives of the Great Days, an event that aims to bring fun in contact with nature.


Take a picture of a pink gorilla riding a mountain bike, milk a goat with a farmer or sing a mountain song in front of a little church in the meadows. These were just some of the many challenges that the participants had to face during the “Tutti Frutti Challenge”, the main initiative of the Great Days, that took place from July 16th to 18th on the Carosello 3000 Mountain.


On Saturday, 25 teams of mountain-bikers coming from Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Poland competed in finding objects, following weird characters and facing funny challenges along a 50km route (see more info about the Tutti Frutti Epic tour). All the challenges were proved by Instagram stories.


The team that got more points and placed in first position was the 360 Valtellina Bike team, which gave great proof of riding ability, strategy skills and fantasy in overcoming the challenges. Taking part in the event with their own teams, the mountain-bike legend Hans Rey, the Paralympic ski athlete Murat Pelit and the local mountain-bike champion Jessica Bormolini.


The Great Days included many other activities starting from the Sunset Ride (Friday, July 16th). This was a spectacular group ride on a run of 12 km including the new trail “Lonely Planet” with its suggestive views on the pristine Federia valley and the Livigno lake. The initiative ended with a happy hour with local food and music until night on the terrace of the Calcheira restaurant, enlightened by braziers.


The schedule on Sunday was busy with different tours around the valley or filled with the adrenaline of the Threesome Ride: a team race where each member of the team had to run a different type of trail (enduro/flow/cross-country) and get back together finishing the run with the entire team. The win went to the polish team Jafi Sport, which got the prizes offered by MET Helmets, company leader in the production of helmets and protections for mtb, official partner of the event.


The three days of riding ended on Sunday afternoon with the “Party in the woods”: a good moment to socialize in the glade of the “Baitel da Plascianet” with barbecue and polenta (local dish made with corn and cheese) cooked on the spot. The lively atmosphere was made with the band Yeti Duo playing unplugged and the joy of the participants that, after a long period of restrictions, had the chance to be back sharing their passion for the mountain and mountain bikes.


The Great Days will be back in Livigno the next summer, while Carosello 3000 will continue to welcome mountain bike enthusiasts on the trails until Sunday 26th September 2021.
