I think athletes from rich countries have an unfair advantage over athletes from poor countries.

@ybbikes: is this the industry norm? Shops are cutting the tubes when they build the bike?

Well it’s either an ugly pile of spacers or a monstrously long headtube, or over forking the bike by 20-30mm. The proportions on XL and XXL bikes are way out of whack.

I don’t think the shops are cutting the steerer tubes. It’s the manufacturer. I’m a normally-proportioned 6’3” and I ride XL bikes. Several times I have immediately sold the stock fork from a new bike and bought a new one, not to upgrade, but to get an uncircumcised steerer. They should just leave them uncut on new bikes and let the shop do it as part of the fitting process.

Feb 18, 2023Specialized Stumpjumper Expert S5 Fox 36
$3300 USDS5 Stumpjumper with Fox 36 Performance Elite. Bigger riders will love this bike with the 36 up front. This is the best trail bike I’ve ever ridden! Excellent mechanical condition. Meet The All New Transition Smuggler
Same experience here. I liked the spur ok but suspension was a problem. I was about to upgrade that when I realized the Stumpjumper was basically what I needed. Much better bike. Recently changed it out for the stumpu evo, which still has a lighter frame than the smuggler and you can fit a super burrito. And I paid $4700 US for GX AXS/Performance Elite carbon build.
