Just joking, I haven't "needed" OR really made use of any of the long travel bikes I've owned. I know I only need a XC/trail bike. But what I need or even what would be best for me has nothing to do with the decisions I make... So I"ll keep lugging that heavy 6.5" bike up the hill so I can come back down and hit some massive 2 foot drops!!!
Here is a YouTube video of the very best chain against an angle grinder. Very expensive and I still don't know what you'd use for a lock:

If you want hills (200 feet.. It is the midwest) with 3 different 30mph downhills, single track and enough trails to make it worth it. If you ride every trail, it's about 9 miles and around 1100 feet of climbing, with actual rooted fast downhills. Take the Metra to the Kenosha station and head over to Petrifying Springs Park. It's about 2 miles from the station. No real bike shops, but their are 2 Micro Breweries walking distance from the station and a Chicago style hot dog shop, run by a guy from Chicago. If you need a guide, message me.
@captaingrumpy haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets paranoid about my bike. I haven't let it out of my sight yet. If I ever need to lock it outside I'll definitely consider that monster chain, geez.
Super cute Aussie plasma cutter video:
