Scott 'Wink' Grant shoots still photos on a Leica M6 Rangefinder. The camera, passed down to him from his grandfather (iconic photojournalist Ted Grant) shoots 35mm film, primarily black and white, but he'll shoot the odd roll of colour to mix things up. He's a bit old fashioned that way; forgoing the ease of digital cameras for the tactile magic of film. But it's not a consciously cultivated nostalgia, an attempt to out-hipster the Instagram crowd, no it's just an appreciation of tangible things and an understanding of the time, effort, and skill that goes into making something real.

The same can be said about his riding. His style fuses BMX street skill and mountain bike trail smashing. He didn't learn his tricks in a foam pit, he learned the hard way. He learned on real jumps. That's why he values style so much. Any Tom, Dick, or Larry can learn flipwhips into foam. Wink would much rather throw a perfect table or get sideways on a moto whip - you can tell he's a Mike Aitken and Chase Hawk fan.

I've known Wink for almost 10 years and in that span his riding has progressed dramatically, from sketchy grom to confident Chromag athlete. I can't wait to watch the rest of his career unfold.
