The destroy every riders score who misses a combo in a three or a flip but if you do a single tuck its all right, i just think this is not the way it should be today
despite the downvotes you're getting i totally agree. I remember being dragged against my will to my first crankworx before I knew a damn thing about mountain biking, but was no stranger to what xgames had for bmx and stuff. The first joyride I watched 4-5 years ago had me hooked on the sport, things felt so different then bmx comps. The bikes, the type of tricks and the courses were crazy to watch. Linking up entire runs top to bottom seemed so insanely difficult on such huge features, and I just felt a huge separation between mountain biking versus the rest of competition trick biking. For some reason watching Rogatkin throw the same shit in every competition makes it seem so stale, but I won't doubt the difficulty and insanity of his tricks. The judges, however, have started to move in favor of big tricks and big tricks only and it's obvious.
Yet when Rheeder comes in with combos and oppos he gets scored high, whereas I feel other riders don't get the same luxury. For riders trying to enter the sport to make a name for themselves, it seems to be becoming increasingly difficult to figure out what exactly the judges want to see in order to at least get top 5.
@anchoricex: As far as I know, they have this judges-riders meeting at the beginning of every race, where the judges explain what they want to see and how it will be scored.
Well its obvious if they aim to go for a combo but miss it so they're deducted for not having their run down (fluidity). Its like the past few seasons where they deducted a serious amount of points just for pedal slip. That was another incredible contest and felt it was overall judged well.
It's obviously a "safety run" so he can do a harder trick on that jump if he needed to. But judges scored him so high already on his first run that he didn't have to do harder on the second. But hey, did you even see his 1080 x-up on his victory lap?
@fatfingur: Yeah anyone else doing a victory lap would just throw in some token flips (cite commentator) instead he throws down for the fans then pulls of that insane 1080 x-up at the end rolling out of the trick with his rear tyre off the rim and the fans and commentators losing their minds
they should release a public points table, that specifies how many points a trick gets, including variations, clean landings and so on. so that judging becomes a lot more transparent
I have no idea what the judges saw but hult stomped the winning run 100 percent cause he got bangers oppos and combos all the way.. miss the oppos and other tec stuff in rogatkins runs i dont know why this is judged this high
Yeah, I mean Rogatkin shouldn't have been scored low, but doing just a tuck no hander on the big dirt to dirt should have warranted a small hit to his points
@JustinLund: He was scored low. 91 left plenty for someone to take it away. and did you see the 1080 x up in the victory lap punctuated by a tire explosion. rad as eff!
@snomaster: rad but not clean at all, if a Newcomer to the Scene stompf a perfect run but is doing just a tuck in a whale tale or sth like this everyone is like uuuh just a tuck and he gets like 70
Josh Hult was a kick ass BMX racer into his teens then really got into trails/ramps, ect. I think he still lives in Idaho but is pretty well known in our region out West.
I'll probably get down voted but what happened to variety? Nichoil has big tricks but a no hander on one of the biggest jumps is ridiculous along with a tailwhip or bar spin on every jump (most of the time) that's not a cash roll or twister. Even my wife that's only been riding DH 4 years says she "will never be able to do any of those tricks or jumps bit gets bored of the same tricks over and over"
and did you see the 1080 x up in the victory lap punctuated by a tire explosion. rad as eff!
