The Contour footage from when Cam Zink and Kyle Strait filmed "The Descent II" for G-Shock. Some have proclaimed, "World's Biggest Backflip."
Cam Zink is always sending us his footage so we put together this multisport video for your viewing pleasure.
The details from Cam himself: 1. Riding moto with Adam Jones and at Day in the Dirt. 2. Trails in Williams Lake, B.C with Kurt Sorge, Darren Berrecloth and James Doerfling. 3. Teva Winter Games 60 foot booter. Flip Superman Seat Grab 4. My Backyard Jump 5. Snowboarding a chute at Alpine Meadows 6. K1 Go Karts with the Troy Lee Designs crew
Cam McCaul went down hard at the Red Bull Bergline in Winterberg. Cam had his CONTOUR filming during the run and while receiving help from the medics after the crash.
This footage offers the rare instance to view what happens after a rider goes down with an injury and requires medical assistance. In this case there was a bit of a language barrier that made things even more difficult.
Cam Zink also had some trouble in Winterberg when a 360 went slightly over rotated on the drop in.
Berrecloth: Is it out? Is your shoulder out? McCaul: Yeah its out. Berrecloth: Do you want me to put it back in? do you want me to? I'll do it. McCaul: Do you know how? Berrecloth: Yeah. McCaul: This isn't like the time you gave me a haircut is it?
Imagine when these guys are sitting around in their old age telling stories to one another. Oh to be a fly on the wall.
if he was bleeding.. they would be more usefull than darren.. dont hate on the people who are there to help you when needed.. they also said there were to many camera's on them .. to pop it back in in front of everyone.. if you f*ck up.. and damage nerves.. its their job on the line..
cyberhawk, you don't need a medic for a dislocated shoulder unless it's a posterior (very hard to get back in on your own) or an inferior (which I never had happen but from what I hear it's not fun) or if you're with no one that knows how to pop it back in. Also nerve damage can occur from someone putting it back in but I've never had that happen and no one I know that's had a paramedic help them have had that happen. That's because you'd have to screw up really bad to allow that kind of damage. There's a much higher risk in nerve damage from corrective surgery than from someone popping a shoulder back in... what I'm trying to say is that dislocated shoulders aren't a big deal, yes it's their jobs to offer help but a person doesn't have to take it, and that vid gave me giggles.
yeah it was a funny vid.. but i cant stand the hatin on the medics.. i know you understand my point of view on the camera's on them, so they declined to do it straight away on the scene.. i am not the only one who heard that i think... if you have had dislocations before,. it is easier and less risky.. to get it back in.. but if that was his first. (what the medics didnt know.) there is more to it than just pop it "in"
cyberhawk- I'm not trying to sound like a hard ass but every single one of my dislocations from the very first, to the last before my second surgery, have been put back in by myself. I find it very strange that the paramedics would somehow be affected by cameras being around when they attempt to do something that seems pretty routine... and especially considering that the longer it's outta the socket, the worse it's gonna be.
maybe you americans are hardasses.. not to be misread as dumbasses.. but there is more to it..
as for the medics.. they cant risk the chance of fucking shit up,.. they have procedures you know..
so cam knew it was only its shoulder.. and nothing else.. the medics cant take that assumption as a fact..
interwebz says the same thing i did ..
Know the patient's history.! If this is a patient's first shoulder dislocation injury, or first time on the same side, rush them to the hospital for an emergency room visit. First time dislocations may have complications such as fractures or breaks, torn soft tissue, or other internal damage, making a relocation of the shoulder a delicate procedure. For dislocations of a patient with a history of repeated dislocations, a manual relocation may be a reasonable option.
Who cares, that's another reason to avoid paramedics. You have any idea how expensive an emergency room visit is? Why are you trying to argue something that, judging from your posts, you know nothing about and have never experienced? This is dumb. I'm going to smash my computer and gonna go play outside.
By the way it's nice to see that bashing Americans for no reason hasn't gone out of style.
"" who cares "" just said it all.. ignorant fool.. cant you read gddammit..
for one.. i am not bashing you.. you peeps have the tendency to overreact ..like your doing now..
and sorry to say,., we have health care.. and i am "sports" insured when i am on bike vacantion .. so i will use the emergency room without being scared to be billed.. and so what .. its my health..
and i dont think.. no i am sure.. after your first sentence.. you are not in the position to judge..
i told you what i know.. you discarded it..
i quoted it again from a medical page.. there you go..
lol what was this all about with McCaul shoulder ? It happend to me once and i placed it back where it should be by myself. Damn, that was pinful. But feeling of relief when it was back in my joint, awesome feeling
cyberhawk, suite melt brah.
Either way Cam and Darren are Bad Ass and to have that amount of trust in Darren shows how close all of those guys really are.
I popped somebody's shoulder back in once when I was 10. It was only a few months later I found out how dangerous it postentially was. Somehow I did it perfectly with no medical training or previous experience... :/
My dad's a doctor and he said you can do great damage to your shoulder by doing it on your own!
Also when the medics do it and screw up, it will have huge consequences for them, they could be sued or lose their job!
But I think the main reason was, that they didn't want the people to see how someones shoulder is popped back in, I mean you don't do surgeries in public, too!
And that's probably the same reason, Contour doesn't show how it's popped in, it's kind of inappropriate!!!
Protocol for EMTs and Paramedics (in WA state at least) is to stablize the dislocation (usually with a triangle bandage or vac splint) after doing a rapid physical evaluation and medical history. We cannot put the dislocation back in. If you dont know what your doing you run the serious risk of make the injury much worse. When you do get a dislocation muscle spasms can be so intense that it takes 3 to 4 people just to pull the dislocation back into place... sometimes it can just take a slight push. The issue is only doctors truely know what's going on and they get to make that call, not EMS personel. It's out of our scope of practice and we would get fired and never be able to work in the medical field again if we tried to put it back in.
Sure, those EMS personel should have taken control of the situation and stablized that arm first thing but they cant force you to do anything. If Cam didn't want their help, he had every right to just get up and walk away. I hope his shoulder is fine, I love McCaul, such a BAMF. Does anyone know what happened?
TAridingMTB- as a medic we are not allowed by protocol to put a shoulder back in. medically speaking there are to many unforeseeable things that can happen. ya it sucks but we have to cover our asses also. if the medic popped that shoulder in and say a nerve or an artery moved into the socket when the arm was out it could cause more problems.
they didn't slow it, it was 5 full seconds of hang time in this video and the one of him just hitting the drop (with no flip) in the video that Changstarr posted a link to
I thought he was pretty close to the ground after the flip but he still had a good few seconds of hang time left before he actually came back down to earth again, these guys are awesome.
I was there when McCaul crashed and the reason they don't show how the Claw puts his shoulder back in, is simply because he couldn`t do it. So they brought him away from the scene, in my opinion you should listen to the medic if something like this happens...
Connorc126 - this get's so lame. Whenever any other camera Brand shows a video, no matter how good or bad some dumbass like you is coming and bringing up this gopro shit. Stop it, we all Know that you like your gopro you spend too much money for and now try to justify Why you Look like a Teletubbie.
Yeah the camera fanboys do get a little annoying but he was stating his opinion man. Its pretty hard to argue that the video quality that you get with a gopro isnt better than its competitors. If your not looking for something without a fisheye thats one thing I guess, but when it comes to video quality, durability, and versatility the gopro beats the contour.
longhitter2000 it was just my opinion i can say what ever the fuck i want. i suggest you go home and wash that sand out your fanny and thumb your ass. and yes i do like my gopro that i got for a very good price your just gel you cant afford one.
McCaul: Yeah its out.
Berrecloth: Do you want me to put it back in? do you want me to? I'll do it.
McCaul: Do you know how?
Berrecloth: Yeah.
McCaul: This isn't like the time you gave me a haircut is it?

I thought it was pretty funny actually Berrecloth just strolling over and offering to pop it back in, I hope he did know what he was doing...
