Australian National Downhill Series Round 2 - Thredbo

Thredbo, always a favourite spot for many Australian racers, hosted Round 2 of the Australian National Downhill series this weekend. After Round 1 at Awaba two weekends ago which had a mix of blisteringly hot temperatures and damp racing conditions, the weather in Thredbo was far more comfortable, although there were forecasts of high winds and rain for Sunday.

All eyes were on Troy Brosnan, and his fresh Canyon contract, would his new Sender enable him to take yet another win? In the Elite Women's, Caroline Buchanan was back racing the downhill bike again but she would have some tough competition to beat, as Tegan Molloy, Danni Beecroft and Kellie Weinert were all showing great speed.

Jackson had a much better race run. Coming down at the very start of the Elite Men, he was in the hot seat the whole time until Troy came over the line.

Bit late to the party. And I was also late on race day, didn't know the schedule was moved forward so was just in time up the hill to discover the last few guys were already at the start gate...

Before I had time to get the camera in order or spot a nice spot they were off. OK, anyway; here are the few shots I could grab: www.pinkbike.com/u/kusanagi72/album/MTBA-Round-2---Thredbo

The situation with weather was changing all the time, lucky it all held off except for a bit of wind. You can get good shots in quite a lot of places on the hill, but I find a few more spots every time I go.

@DJR9000: Yeah, there was a dark patch and some wind later on but it held up pretty OK. But you'll never know in the mountains so understand the call.

It was only due to me driving up from Canberra on the Sunday morning with the original time schedule in mind Wink

And just arrived in Australia two weeks ago so no knowledge of the track/photo locations yet Wink First time on the hill. Will be back!
