its a hard life living here Razz one thing he didn't mention is you can only ride on snowdon at certain times of the day in the summer months www.cyclingnorthwales.co.uk/pages/snowdn_volunt.htm
its well worth the push up (takes 2 to 2 and a half hours) i find the mtn goes a lot quieter after 6pm so you don't need to slow down every five min for walkers.

it does, very briefly about 1:05 in

bivvy it at the top then descend in the morning! thats my plan for the summer

I rode down it in less that 1hour 32 mins and it took me 3hours and 30(something) mins . I went down the rangers path and I was on a 4x bike . Craziest thing ive ever done , would definatly do it again !

@LeeroyJenkins sorry my bad. @prenderville. I meant the push up normally takes 2ish hours, not the descent.

Yeah I went in April and there was snow taller than me at the top (I'm 6ft 4 btw) and there was ice everywhere . The rangers path had a dead sheep on it that I narrowly avoided haha . Wales Is mental !

Went there a couple of years ago when we were visiting, just on a larth stopped to walk the dog and pretty much walked just shy of the summit in runners. Found a 20 ilb note in the ditch and laughed at the 12 year old kids smoking role your own cigarettes in front of their teachers. All I could think of was how fun it would be on a bike. I would highly recommend Wales if your going to visit and your bringing a bike. Your gonna need it to burn the calories off, from the multitude of meat pies you can eat. Bring rain gear and gum boots. Also get ready to try and understand people from Wales speaking welsch. Very cool place reminded me of the Yukon above treeline.

I though there was a mini train going most of the way up Snowdon? Do they not let you on with a bike? Or do they not start running early enough in the morning to avoid the walkers?
  • 2 0
 :-(
.....there is a railway all the way to the summit -- £20per person, also only starts at 9am..... and no 'bulky luggage' allowed.
They mention group bookings being available but serioulsy doubt they will want to accommodate DH riders.

One bloke did drive his 4x4 right to the top last year --- he left it there and eventually was tracked down and prosecuted, so maybe not the best idea to use your own vehicle......
Maybe a group of riders, take a quad up the tracks to the top .......... or get up early enough to walk to the top and set off back down before all the walkers start arriving

Cracking vid, that was my first proper mtb ride. U brakes, 1.75 tyres and no suspension!

Best thing about N'Wales is that you can do everything in a pretty small area.
Bike/Cimb/Kayak/Hike…Shop.
Best place in England it is Wink Razz

Penmachno is the worst trail centre I have ever ridden. I don't ride there often. Its a waste of time going there if you want a cracking mtb ride....

Why is my nose growing? Wink

After reading 'By Dan Milner' I nearly didnt watch it (thanks to his crap interview with Matt Hunter which was bloody terrible) but I'm glad I did now! Great riding in Wales and this video showcases it nicely, well done!

If you were actually British you'd appreciate his humour more.
Just like the Canadians/US folk prefer a Tippie interview.

(btw it wasn't me who -'d you Wink )
