In 2007 Piotr "Szwed" Szwedowski had an accident that would make most people think twice about cycling again, let alone mountain biking. He went through clinical death, spent five days in a coma, lost two litres of blood, injured his heart muscles, lungs and brain. Furthermore, he broke multiple bones one of which was his femur!
To most this would sound like the end of the road, not for Szwed! After undergoing 8 blood transfusions and 8 surgeries, he was about pieced back together, but this was just the start.
Piotr went a year without walking, but he powered ahead with much ambition. He just wanted to be back on his bike. For 5 years he struggled through other injuries, but never let them set him back.
In 2011 he started work with a great orthopedist, what's more he's a mountain biker too. He set up a 5 year recovery program for Szwed, leading to the final goal; to ride again!
For Szwed 2013 was his first season back, riding his bike almost every day, in the mountains on his doorstep. He even took the win at the Joyride Open Final in Zakopane in the Dual Slalom race!
Throughout the 2013 season Szwed was working with Michał Kuczyński
http://mkuczynski.pl/ on " I AM BACK", a video all about his return to riding.
So finally, here it is!
"I AM BACK"Szwed knows this just the beginning, but what a way to start. He's on his way up, and we're proud to say we're right there for it all
As Szwed says "LIFE IS RIDING AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST WAITING"
