 Even Santa Cruz Reserve's with I9's are $1,900. When you're announcing a new value-priced product and you come in on the wrong side of freaking SC, you know you've messed up big time.

Also, if you want Hydras, you can get WAO's new rims with those for $1,625.

I don't know what kind of black magic WAO uses to hand-make rims in BC with one of the best warranties in the industry, and consistently undercut multi-national corporations outsourcing their labor to countries with cheap labor. But god bless 'em.

 I just went to the WeAreOne site. The wheelsets are $1700 not $1000. I used The Convert Rim/I9's regular spokes, it's $1695

 @ShredlyMcShredface: You are looking at the wrong ones, the WA1 Revolution (ie: Convert) w/ I9 Hydra hubs are better, so cost more. The WA1 Movement wheelsets w/ I9 101 hubs are the comparable set to these Enve w/ I9 101 hubs

Nailed it! They are in reality probably not so bad stuff..... but the marketing negative aura now surrounding Enve is simmilar to Elsworth and most of the general public will not buy Enve :
1. because of high price ("value" at 2100$?? WTF)
2. and/or marketing f*ckups - which is very hard reversible (probably unreversible for anyone more than semi-knowledged MTB-ers)

Solutions for ENVE:
- sell carbon wheels at ALU prices (even biggest negativists will be persuaded by this)
- change everything about marketing (people, teams, brand name etc..)

Otherwise you are convicted to lifeless stagnation - just contact Elseworth and Brian Lopes for experience Smile

 I think ENVE made a good move hitching its wagon to I9. The customer service at I9 is five-star, and they stand behind their products. That said, I9’s aluminum rims are really stiff and light, and I would probably go that route for wheels of I’m getting I9 hubs.

 Still is a sport. Every participant sport has posers, hardcore and everything in between. Many riding the very top are posers to a degree, yet many running top end stuff can out shred majority of the comment section of Pinkbike any day of the week. Some of this stuff nuts with pricing? Of course....but let those guys buy the crazy $$ stuff so industry can have more resources and designs further down the product lines.

 with enve getting onboard with the "no questions asked" replacement thing, the only real question is how long of a turn around time is it for a new wheel/rim? do they make you go through a shop or work directly with the consumer?

 Stop asking questions. Their policy has nothing to do with them not asking questions, it has to do with you not asking questions.

 The turn around has been an average of 1 week for me. The down time is no issue for me since I take the stock wheels off right away and save them for when I break mine. And no, you do not have to go through a shop. All you have to do is contact them online/email or a quick call to get the help you need. You'll need to provide a pic of damage, proof of purchase and S/N. Super simple process and the people that work there are extremely friendly. Can't recommend them enough.

 @ProChargedZ28: the issue with Enve is that you do need a spare wheelset. If you owned A wheelset equipped with dt/hope hubs and dt/spank rims, you’d be much less likely to require any form of customer support.

I do ride within the intended use of my bikes and parts equiped on my bikes. But, I do push my limits and the limits of what I ride. I'm probably a guy that would benefit greatly from an insert of some sort but, that's something for me to sort out.

With my new M930's and 730's, I've had zero issues. Not saying I will not in the near future but, I know that if I do, I will get a quick turn around that cost me exactly zero dollars.

Well hey, at least if I do break a set, I get new ones free. I dont care how many times they may or may not break. Life time replacement is where my money went. Spank, dt, Easton, rovale, just to name a few, never gave me a new wheel when I broke theirs.

 @CircusMaximus: That's a valid point!!! But for me it's money worth it. I break around 2-3 sets of wheels each DH season at the resorts. I break about 1 set per year trail riding. Carbon wheels or not, I break that many. Add that up over the past few years and I have already saved money given the alternative of buying less expensive rims. The money saved from buying new rims/spokes and re-lacing to my hubs each time has paid off where I would have saved money on other wheels. Sure there are other carbon options out there with life time. But in the past with Enve, if you broke a wheel, the warranty started all over again at day Zero. I rode Spanks for years and relized using math, that a Brand that supplied a super easy warranty was worth my money.

Is the up front cash easy for many, prob not. But, for a guy who has been riding for years and hopes to for many more, my investment in a set that will cost me zero to fix anytime I break them was worth it. Sure, they are pricey as hell, I can't deny that. They have already saved me money from my days of riding rims without replacement warranties.

I'm not a fan boy of carbon over alum., this brand or that. In the long run for a guy that goes through wheels, I'm a fan boy of the warranty.

 Dammit Jim! I'm a teacher not a dentist! Destroyed a set of wheels right before my summer mtn bike trip a couple years ago. I don't get paid in the summer, and if I had spent the money even on an appropriately priced set of aluminum wheels, I'd have dented my budget too badly to go on the trip. Only wheel company that took payments was Enve (I know... don't laugh). I pulled the trigger, made monthlies on them for a year, and I rode the best set of wheels I've ever ridden in 27 years of riding. And had a blast on my trip.

They are ridiculously expensive. But they are some badass wheels.

That said, I did just purchase my first set of Reynolds. Half the price and I still get to buy American made.

 @ryanthelyon: A lot of them are kitted out or rotted out. I was lucky enough to find an original, 2 owner, bone stock Type SH. I've made a few tasteful mods. I do my own wrenching so that helps.

I won't fall into a cash trap with a new car. I like my money in the bank. Collecting interest and paying dividends. Not paying interest and collecting debt.

 @cunning-linguist: IIRC stock #s for a '91 5.0l HO were 225hp 320tq. With a good driver a stick shift LX trunk will run high 13s in the 1/4. My DSO (domestic special order) was 3250lb stock I believe. I've got mine down to 3000. With a few mods again. Good for high 11's in the 1/4.

I'm not a fan of the styling on that particular TVR. Which engine does yours have? IIRC some came with 5.0l Fords

Seriously!? We Are One had these beat before they even came out. You can get the highest end We Are One rims + Hydra I9 hubs + CX Ray spokes build with lifetime no ? warranty for less than these "budget" minded Enves. I don't see how they beat anything.

... if you're trying to get value for your money, stay far away from Enve. Spend some time searching for deals and you can literally buy two carbon wheelsets for the price of these "value" Enve's.

 Enve was a pioneer in the carbon wheel movement and have my respect. However, they saw the writing on the wall and sold out to the Euro company Amer sports. Amer is actively seeking a buyer of enve and mavic.. Two struggling wheel manufacturers. Canadian made is a hell of a lot better than China made, I hope they can sustain the affordable pricing. I was going to order a set but they told me it’s a 3-4 week turn around so I bought a clearance set of Reynolds with torch hubs for 900.00

 I 9 wheels have life time warranty. These two years. I dent rims but I dont destroy them. If I was destroying rims I dont think 500 dollar rims are a good idea. With Uber wheels like this i may not dent the rims but it would leave a huge dent in my bank account. I love to look at this stuff I 9 hubs with Stans rims and sapim race spokes and labor . 600 for the hubs 300 for the rims 150 for spokes 50 for labor. 1100 bucks. Canadian. Stans Mk3 27.5 rims weigh 490 grams. Im guessing these carbon rims are about 400 grams. You get a significant weight savings at a cost .

 Because it’s ENVE. You’re much better off with the I9 carbon wheels. Much cheaper, hydra hubs any color you want, not to mention thick alloy spokes.

 Right! I'm running 29er Halo Vapour 35 aluminum rims, DT comp spokes, Sapim nipples on Hope Pro 4's. About $525. Weigh about the same as the m730 Enve. 2 seasons, no issues so far. Math says I could buy 4 sets of my setup, run a wheelset until it is destroyed, switch to the next set, etc. and that would last at least 8 years. Or for just over the price of shipping a wheel for warranty, I can go down to my LBS and get a new rim in 2 days..

 You should probably understand they are fighting for their life right know. SC blew up the market with warranty, everyone else is cheaper due to manufacturing in Asia. So another year or two and either they move to China or go out of business. US manufacturing jobs lost anyway. Pity, as they basically created the market for carbon mtb wheels in the first place.
