After placing first at Round 1 in Moab, Kelley was forced to miss the action in Round 2 due to injury, but last year’s overall winner found himself in familiar territory after the three-stage enduro race.

“I hit my head really hard, so I took four weeks off. No physical activity,” Kelley said. “I lost a bit of fitness, so fighting back from that as well as just kind of getting my head back up to speed. Feels good, I’m glad I took time off. Just trying to be smart with it and take it as it comes.”

A short weather delay due to high winds and lightning matched the drama brought on by a variety of flowy and technical trails featured throughout the three stages.

“I just try to be playful. I try to pick my lines and hit my marks, but when it doesn’t happen I just take it as it comes,” Kelley said. “Just try to be playful on the bike and kind of let the bike do its thing. If it wants to bounce side-to-side, I let it do it. Just try to stay loose in that stuff. When you stiffen up, that’s when it goes south.”

Chris Boice continued his strong season racing the SCOTT Enduro Cup. After third and fourth place finishes in Moab and Angel Fire respectively, Boice took the second step at Powderhorn ahead of the final two stops.

“Enduro Cup does a really good job of creating a community atmosphere,” he said. “The whole crew has a good time. They get involved with the community. I think that’s the difference. At the end of the day, it’s to have fun. The results are great, but if you’re not having fun, you shouldn’t do it at all.”

Adam Prosise, Stan Jorgensen and Quinn Reece rounded out the top-five in Men’s Pro/Open.

Cooper Ott has now made it back-to-back first place finished and sits in contention for the top spot in the overall series ahead of the final stops in Durango, CO on Aug. 11-12 and Park City, UT on Aug. 25-26.

“The competition, even though we might seem really chill on the outside, they’re there. All of the ladies are really fast and we’re battling. It’s not a walk in the park like we make it seem like when we’re cruising down to the stage giggling and having fun. When it’s go time, it’s go time.”

No stranger to the podium, Lia Westermann is set to challenge Ott for the overall points win after a second place finish. The Salt Lake City, UT native is looking forward to adding series points - especially at her home trails in Park City, UT for Round 5.

“Deer Valley is my hometown, so I’m excited to race that and see how I do. It’s going to be fun. I’ve been practicing a lot at home, just trying to get those trails dialed.”

Angelica Ramirez, last year’s Deer Valley winner, Stefanie McDaniel, who placed fifth in Moab, and Ileana Anderson, Moab’s first place finisher, capped the top-five.

“You never know. You never know what position you’re going to end,” Ramirez said. “I can be 10th. I can be third, like today. It’s always a battle.”

“The trails are very technical. Super gnarly and hard,” Ramirez added on the upcoming Park City, UT stop. “The crowds are always super fun to race with. I’m looking forward to it.”

Stage 3 (Pinball Alley) was probably the most technical trail I've ever ridden. More so than Keystone, Angel Fire, and others.

That trail could definitely be considered a double black.

 Powderhorn looks fun.

Its a awesome resort. They only have 3 trails, but the blue and black trails will seriously challenge you. This isnt anything like Winter Park/Keystone/Vail, Raw fun trails that require precise line choice.

@xxsurlyxx: Pinball is insanely fun to ride. They have lot's of potential for more trails if they want to expand. 3 or 4 more trails and it'll be a great little bike park.
