Custom Rocky Mountain Slopestyle Frame Version 3 Carsons been helping design

Bleeding knuckles couldn't stop Carson from making this bike check. Fresh from McGazza Fest, it was great to catch up with him and see what was new on his custom slope bike. Carson has been helping the Rocky Mountain team with the design and build of this rig, and this is actually the third version that he's been on. We'll have a more in-depth look down the road, but jump onboard and have a look at this one-off slope machine.

The Shimano Saint derailleur works as a single-speed tensioner and also makes the conversion easier if Carson does want to run gears. He's rolling on a Hope wheelset.

I love how these awesome bike checks don’t actually show the bike......just close ups of seats, handlebars and bottom brackets.

did you miss the first pic?? also ask yourself what makes up a bike, oh wait you already did....

@trex1984: But don't you think that close-ups of the suspension would be handy? Esoecially if it is a "prototype" shock
  • 26 3
@YoungGun13: They didn't even say if it was 26" wheels. I think PB gets fined if they say anything other than 27.5 or 29er

@yeti951SD: Didn't you hear about the next wheel size though? It's going to be 29.99 because the companies feel like they could increase the advantages found in the 29" wheel with an extra 0.99" and then they can seal the "bearings" in the "spokes" properly

@YoungGun13: You're trying too hard, bro.

@Odinson: I'm in math class and I have nothing better to do with my time

@YoungGun13: yes you do. Learn maths, become an engineer and come up with the bastard standard yourself.

 what are you talking about
  • 5 0
@Peeta365: I’m talking about how the bike checks lately have sucked. Junky photos and false information. Hmmmm let’s see a close up photo of this so called “prototype” SR Suntour shock. Oh, can’t cuz it’s actually a Fox. How about those small block 8’s? Oh, can’t cuz they’re Maxxis. I remember a time when bike checks used to give actual information about the unique little things that riders do to set their bike up to their liking. Now it’s just an add to plug sponsors.....

They spelled FOX wrong.... or a very strange case of autocorrect turning FOX into PROTOTYPE.....
  • 13 0
If they don't pay then don't advertise for them.
  • 4 1
probably cause carson drew the line at a shit rear shock as well...
  • 5 0
 @dirtmiester:
Yeah no kidding , probably wants to be able to complete one run without both the fork and shock leaking oil
  • 25 0
Kenda Small Block 8 tires? Looks a lot like a maxxis dth...
  • 18 4
"Suspension is an all SR Suntour affair, with a Durolux fork and a prototype shock."
  • 10 2
and some cool prototype small block DTH's to compliment!

A protoype shock? It looks like a Fox shock to me. It's even Kashima...
  • 1 0
@YoungGun13: dude if you don't get sarcasm then shut up.
  • 14 1
The blatant hogwash about the tire and the shock... bless your hearts.
  • 15 4
Honestly? Not the least bit impressed, geometry is probably dialled, but this thing looks straight out of 2008.
  • 11 0
Whoa what brand is that disguised prototype shock
  • 13 1
Apparently "taped up Fox Float" is French for "prototype shock".
  • 10 1
 This article was edited quickly......
  • 6 1
The PB editors carpet bombed it after everyone called out all of the 'prototype' bullshit.
  • 7 2
this bike woulda been neat 10 years ago. on another note it doesn't even seem like carson storch is interested in slope anymore at all. Which is kind of odd since Redbull likely picked him up in hopes that he'd be a top slope athlete
  • 7 0
lol "prototype rear shock" definitely not a fox or anything like that.
  • 7 2
I like seeing companies make slope bikes, and I'm sure this bike is amazing, but while I loved the looks of the Rocky Mountain Slayer SS, this one is kind of boring to me.
  • 3 0
Wow SR must have stolen the secret formula for that kashima coated rear shock
  • 1 0
Ya do realise fox have nothing to do with kashima and they pay another company to do it for them right??
  • 4 2
Did they just take an old Transition Double and weld in a tapered head tube? Man aallll these innovations
  • 3 1
Check out Carson's knuckle bunnions... that's what a champion's hand looks like.

Nice, rear suspension geometry set to maximum bottom out.
  • 1 0
40mm handlebar??? 40mm rise I get, but 40mm for bars and stems???
  • 1 0

 See, 26 ain't dead.
  • 1 4
Guess it is interesting to see a bike so adapted to a specific purpose, but damn, using a derailleur as a chain tensioner is just such a crime.
  • 4 0
I see you're not familiar with most slope bikes
