Bleeding knuckles couldn't stop Carson from making this bike check. Fresh from McGazza Fest, it was great to catch up with him and see what was new on his custom slope bike. Carson has been helping the Rocky Mountain team with the design and build of this rig, and this is actually the third version that he's been on. We'll have a more in-depth look down the road, but jump onboard and have a look at this one-off slope machine.
Sensus Grips.
The Shimano Saint derailleur works as a single-speed tensioner and also makes the conversion easier if Carson does want to run gears. He's rolling on a Hope wheelset.
Chromag Contact Pedals
Front suspension is an handled by an SR Suntour Durolux fork.
Chromag Overture Saddle
Carson runs a Shimano XT rear brake and cranks, as well as a ghetto tube wrap to limit free spin.
The cockpit includes a Chromag Bar FU40 with 40mm of rise and a Hi-Fi stem.
@yeti951SD: Didn't you hear about the next wheel size though? It's going to be 29.99 because the companies feel like they could increase the advantages found in the 29" wheel with an extra 0.99" and then they can seal the "bearings" in the "spokes" properly
@Peeta365: I’m talking about how the bike checks lately have sucked. Junky photos and false information. Hmmmm let’s see a close up photo of this so called “prototype” SR Suntour shock. Oh, can’t cuz it’s actually a Fox. How about those small block 8’s? Oh, can’t cuz they’re Maxxis. I remember a time when bike checks used to give actual information about the unique little things that riders do to set their bike up to their liking. Now it’s just an add to plug sponsors.....
this bike woulda been neat 10 years ago.
on another note it doesn't even seem like carson storch is interested in slope anymore at all. Which is kind of odd since Redbull likely picked him up in hopes that he'd be a top slope athlete
I like seeing companies make slope bikes, and I'm sure this bike is amazing, but while I loved the looks of the Rocky Mountain Slayer SS, this one is kind of boring to me.
Yeah no kidding , probably wants to be able to complete one run without both the fork and shock leaking oil
