Dirt Diggler at Sun Set

The 9th annual Dirt Diggler Fall Classic is happening in Fernie on Saturday, the 20th of September. A challenging high alpine to valley floor DH race, the 4000 ft decent is a highlight for many local riders, being a great social event as well. Local shredder and trial builder Derek Bird is the man behind this infamous decent, creating one of the region's best shuttle trail experiences.

Dirt Diggler was featured in the recent Fernie trip when Pinkbike came to ride and shoot a two-part photo epic. You can find the Diggler shots in part 2 here.

September in the Rockies means weather can throw some excitement in the mix as it did a few years ago when this video was shot!

If the 14 year old has ridden the trail before, I don't see why not. However, There is no kids category. Would need parental consent and a FMBC membership.

Is there time allocated for practice for out-of-towners? Working Friday doesn't allow much time to avoid riding it blind.... Would love to make it down for this one!

Registration starts at 10am. Some riders have been known to organize shuttles in the morning pre race.

Best race ever. It shows who has the skills 10+ mins of decent. Most are around 14mins.

It's so true. Raced once a couple years ago and have been talking about it ever since. Hopefully again this year!
