Thursday the 9th of March 2017 played host to the second consecutive monthly 'Pizza Session' at the phenomenal 'Birmingham BMX Track'. Established in 2009 , Birmingham BMX Club has progressed from humble beginnings at the former BMX track at Perry Park to now being the host club of the Birmingham BMX Race Track. The track was built by Clark and Kent Contractors and was the legacy of the BMX World Championships that was hosted by Birmingham City Council in Birmingham in 2012. With funding from Sport England and Birmingham City Council the Birmingham BMX Race Track has become one of the best BMX venues in the UK and Europe. The club has hosted a number of events over the years from Club racing to Regional racing to National events through to the British BMX Championships. We are committed as a club to develop riders of all ages and to have fun at the same time. Maybe a World Champion will come from Birmingham BMX Club.
Come 2017, organisers of the British Downhill Series teamed up with the track for a once a month session where anyone, of any age, can turn up on any bike and just have crack at it. We had 5 year olds trying to beat their dads round the track and people on full mountain bikes, and they were all bought together by one common love of bikes... and pizza; did I mention there was pizza. Come 9'o'clock there is a lull in the riding as everyone tucks into some great pizza.
The next event will be on the 13th of April, make sure you get yourself along, be you an Olympian or someone who has never even set foot on a BMX track, come down and give it a go. Worst comes to worst, theres always pizza.
