by Finn Iles

Time to kick off another season! After a few months back at home, some friends and I took off to southern California to get out of the snow and ride some Downhill in the sun.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but that's probably the best trail I've ever seen in California - it looks pretty fun...

After a winter of raining, the dirt and trails are awesome right now.

@kwapik: awesome. i get the feeling there is good stuff there - sounds like some of it is kept pretty quiet...

Yeah, yeah you did. Or you wouldn't have said it to begin with.

You can come show us how to ride our "pathetic" double blacks though, if you would be so kind, haha.

Come on man, Google shit before you start sucking on your foot.

its vital mtb's testing ground lol

 theres better

Sound like a dick? Are you suggesting anyone in Socal would care? We have some phenomenal dh trails....I’m happy to hear someone is clueless to that, frankly.

@patrickbatemanworldtour89: of course the guy from paradise makes no sense and is angry for no reason

Compliment a trail and be a dick about it. lol.

 Nah bro that’s Trinidad Colorado....
  • 4 2
I think the anti mtb Bay Area really drags the whole state down. However it's a huge state! There is some really great spots throughout the entire state and So Cal has some legit trails.
  • 2 1
Not only do we have awesome trails, we get to ride year round! In fact that is probably why there are a few companies like Santa Cruz, Intense, Fox and DVO that are located here.
  • 5 4
@mtbyoda: Yep, I live in SJ. Contrary to popular belief, Santa Cruz trails are not that great and not the area is not that MTB friendly. Better vibe and trails in other parts of the of California.
  • 4 3
@mtbyoda: Bay Area isn’t anti-MTB. The north and South Bay have some of the best trails in the world (Think about Santa Cruz) pretty much just Marin county that screws everything up.
  • 2 4
@bridgermurray: North and South Bay, some of the best trails in the world? You don't get out much, do you? I live in the Santa Cruz area.
  • 5 0
@bridgermurray: Bay Area may or not be anti mtb and may or may not have the best trails but I still have a shit ton fun riding there.
  • 3 1
@tacklingdummy: it’s all relevant to your personal tastes but to assume that trails in SC or Pacifica or even some areas of Marin or Sonoma are second tier is kinda ridiculous.
  • 2 0
@acali: Amen. And I live in the bay.
  • 3 0
@mtbyoda: 100%. Living in the bay now for work but missing the PNW big time.
  • 1 2
@bridgermurray: True, personal preference. If you like non-technical trails then the Bay Area is fine. The Bay Area lacks technical trails big time. The most technical trails in South Bay and SC are just average when comparing to places around the world. Cheers.
  • 4 2
@tacklingdummy: Santa cruz is the least bike friendly place I have ever ridden. Especially the local riders, f*ck you wally
  • 2 0
@GiantGlory02010: It is because too many irate hikers and equestrians that don't like bikes. I have to ride like a grandma around the trails because of all the hikers.

Yet, the irony is that hikers don't go to "hiking only" trails to avoid bikes when hike only trails far outnumber any legal bike trails. When I hike, I go to hiking only trails because I prefer that no bikes are buzzing around and can hike in more peaceful setting.

There’s no way you can drive from Trinidad, Colorado to SoCal in an afternoon. I call fake!
  • 11 1
So that's digging for finn????? Lmao
  • 3 0
yeah brah, just little bit of rake work and that it
  • 2 1
If you swing a pick axe you're a badass. Period.
  • 3 3
So true - I have seen people skid their rear tire and do more trail work than them.
  • 1 0
I wouldn't like to be around that lot when digging. Either they dig or I do. But when they start swinging tools the way they do over there, I'm out.

 Holy shit, 3:00. Max pucker

 "No dick no ride"??
This discrimination against female riders, should really be something of the past.
But sadly this phrase seems to be gaining momentum.

yeah, despite recent superficial improvements, there's still so much internalized misogyny in mountain biking
  • 31 14
 No dig.....
  • 52 14
You"re from the Netherlands so I guess English is a second language for you. He said "No dig, no ride." Where Finn is from women shred--no dick required--but a shovel is a bonus.
  • 16 1
 OBVIOUS TROLL IS OBVIOUS
  • 3 1
 @cjgauss: Nooooooo! Dick!
  • 4 5
Are you being sarcastic? Or do you have to watch it again, this time with the closed captions on so you can "see" what he is actually saying?
  • 7 3
Lol no sure if a troll or just stupid, there was a whole minute of the video dedicated to them going and buying shovels. Maybe get your facts right before you accuse someone of being a misogynist

 NO DICK NO RIDE!!
  • 15 0
 No richard no ride
  • 42 4
I am just digging around. Sadly, some don't seem to dick it.
  • 5 1
@IntoTheEverflow: the Netherlands just opened it's new giant orange sar-chasm, which already seems to be attracting high numbers of lower-end foreign tourists.
  • 4 7
I love this! This is great, artificial vaginas FTW
  • 3 1
@WAKIdesigns: dude, your testostobot needs a little refinement.
  • 2 2
as a son of Dutch immigrant parents, I find this hilarious. When my parents say "dig" . . . well, it's just funny.

@IntoTheEverflow: Don't worry, he's a world champ. He has a lot of fanny's around who let him get away with that.

 Drinking and bowling is difficult
  • 1 0
Drinking is supposed to make you a better bowler I thought.
  • 6 3
Hey Finn You're a great rider and racer an I'm sure it would be really interesting hearing about your training, preparation, bike setup and approach, but the large amounts of irrelevant filler gets really old really fast.
  • 3 0
If you watched last season, you would get to see all about his training, preparation, bike setup, and approach. All with really fun amounts of filler, which makes it one of the best video series.
  • 6 1
No Dick if he wrecks riding that rake sled down the trail.
  • 5 0
Keep it up Finn! love these vids!
  • 5 0
 Bottom out much?
  • 3 0
 This boy can ride
  • 3 1
Have you considered pro bowling?? :-)
  • 2 0
15sec of riding but damn he's fast
  • 1 0
At least we can beat him at bowling
[feeling better...]
