I've got to meet Kurt twice, really nice and humorous guy. Last I saw him was at OES where he was riding a Specialized. What bike is he riding in the video?
If you're reading this Kurt, what bike were you riding this new video?
What about if you're in charge of trail maintenance and you learn Kovarik is coming out for a ride. That's a lot of berms to fix because *he will* destroy them!
I'm not used to see Kovarik in fruity colored clothes. It seems wrong somehow... If it wasn't for his riding and flat pedals, I would've never guessed it's him.
Day glo gloves and socks, I get it. I'm not colorblind or blind and I can still distinguish the difference between Kirt and Kovarik. But after his WC racing days in red, for years he was almost exclusively in black. Seeing him in anything other than black is... weird. Even in charcoal or grey or moss green or whatever. Like an angry bowl of fruit with big calves and Five Ten's.
@Janosch: "Even in charcoal or grey or moss green or whatever. Like an angry bowl of fruit with big calves and Five Ten's." If your fruit salad in the mornings is charcoal or grey or moss green, you may want to be double checking the expiry dates... Just sayin'
@Janosch: you obviously haven't watched or seen any photos of him from the past 2 years wearing the kovarik jerseys that were a majority day glow green or yellow...
Ahhhhh!!!!!! Of course this edit drops today! I've been away from home for two months and I'll finally be getting back to bend tomorrow!!! I've missed home so much! Can't wait to kick off the season back home, on a new bike and mint trails! Time to slay the moon dust!! nice riding guys
The first trail is Cline Butte out in East Oregon, although theyre pretty much all just sandpits now. The second one is whoops in phils and it still relatively snowed in. All the trails here are smooth except for cline.
@inewsum: nah that looked like horse ridge and sand canyon, but I could be wrong. 2nd one looked like wanoga not Whoops. I was on Whoops yesterday and it's 90% clear except for very top.
Dust is where you learn to drift. Riding on hardpack, dusty trails is like riding on small ball bearings. A little similar to traversing large, wet boulders, but not as slick. Dusty trails allow your tire to break loose easier, so dusty trails tend to demand a discipline of their own.
Whiny white kids who are thinking of starting a punk band cause your mad at your parents , please just commit suicide and save a step. Untalented shite music.
Hey @moldtruth @hellanorcal the trails were beat when we shot them, thats why we shot them, for the dust! I got hundreds of volunteer hours in Bend fixing trails and actually spent a few hours on these trails after to make better than when we started. Thanks for the comment, now go volunteer and help your community.
@Voreis: I get it that you give to local trail building and maintenance and that's cool. But.. not everyone understands this nor do they have knowledge about local trail conditions in Bend. What is seen on the surface is 2 dudes tearing up the trails and it legitimizes this bad trail etiquette. Look at it from this perspective when you shoot your next vid, Getting beyond this criticism, I do think both you guys are great!
P.S I help run a trail group in NM and I'm directing a workday this Sunday. So, no lip service here

The truth is, regardless of the rules, or a video, there is always going to be someone doing the wrong thing... Always!
If I see a person doing this on the trails, I'm amazed by their talent, so I'll want to say "hi". If I get a chance to converse, though I've not had the time myself lately for such, I'll ask the other person to try to take some time this season to volunteer on a trail dig. If they tell me they are involved, I asked how I can get involved!
@MTBHammer: These trails are used for races also! Does that fact matter in the way that this trail is shown in this vid? Facts on what the trails are used for should be researched before any comments are given in my opinion. Berms will be railed and berms will be fixed.
@MTBHammer: The worst trail destroyer is Strava! Chasing times leads to skidding up trails and blowing through berms! That's who needs the long comments. Haha. Stoked you're out making trails, NM has some awesome terrain.
@Voreis: You are right that I don't know the the trail was used for races and that would change my opinion. But that does kind of prove my point. It is the appearance of what is happening that legitimizes this behavior when it is not appropriate. If this was an obvious bike park I would not have even said anything. So, not saying what you and Chris did was technically bad, but it appears that is to people without all these details. This thread has been voted off the Island so it is just us now
@Voreis: On this we agree! The sad thing is that skidding is the slower way down the track. The only time you see WC DH dude skidding is when they screw up. I love Bend and may move there some day. The last time I was there I separated my shoulder shredding the Whoops trail Hope you do another Trail Pimpn' vid. That is my all time favorite. Your no music only bike sound NDW 10 segment is also on my top ten list. Here is a vid of a new trail we built in Placitas NM. youtu.be/9pEvQ0hlVog Not the quality of one of your vids but fun. Enjoy!

Every US National I ever went to, he walked the pits in solid black (socks/hat/shirt/shorts/shoes).

This is the correct headline:
Kirt Voreis and Chris Kovarik Ruining Bend, Oregon

seasons flyin by. wcdh this weekend.
mid summer cant come soon enough
So, who are you when you're not at home?
Thanks for the clarification. I know you put in more than your fair share of shovel time, and I couldn't figure out why you would wreck it.
