Made With Love // Industry Nine

Most people might know Industry Nine by its wheel’s signature buzz, and while the internals that create the noise are impressive, the process and community behind the entire wheel itself is equally remarkable. Since the company’s first wheels hit the ground in 2004, it has been continually innovating every process involved, be it at the drawing board, in machine shop or on the assembly line. Get a glimpse of the process—from lathing to lacing—in this episode of Made With Love.

Manufacturing—most people don’t think of it as glamorous, but there is an allure to it that inspires and drives creation. The process and production behind modern mountain bikes and their associated products is an art form in itself, one that captivates both bike nerds and bike jocks alike. Made With Love is a series designed to capture the literal nuts and bolts upon which our sport is built: The components and people that bring bikes from the assembly line to trail.

@ajdemo76: people didn't get your pun I take it! I did, very well done! You should treat yourself to your favourite dish.

@cunning-linguist: The standards for bike puns changes every three weeks, too.

@NoDHinKentucky: looks like a session is still strong! Makes me proud any time I see it!

It all comes round again in the end!

I have 3 hard years on some I9 Enduros and they are dead straight (one tiny dent) and still going strong. I love the 3 degree engagement, the fact they are made in the USA, and that I don't need a bell on my handlebars - a tiny back pedal at speed and people hear you coming!!

If Chris Kings are Angry Bees, I9s are Cicadas delivering the prophecy. I love their wheels.

Yo! So rad. But where is the bee keeper and how does he get them in the hubs?
  • 1 0
Yea I was really looking forward to seeing that process as well, but I guess they have to keep at least one part of it all a secret.

Fuck, as an engineer working in industry doing a lot of the same processes on different products, that's straight porn. Its nice when someone has the budget to just do things the right way.

What a wonderful credit to the WHOLE I9 team. Very, very well done!

I have Industry Nine wheels on all my bikes and the quality is only outdone by the service and quality people I've always dealt with!

Love the video, very up close to who is building the wheels.

 Courtney is cute.

Hel Yes - thank you I9! This video was as awesome as your product, even if your loud rear hubs makes us incompatible Smile Keep up the good work!

That was fantastic! As an owner of two sets of wheels I absolutely love my i9's and I now know how they came up with the name for the company :-)

Made with no love for 26. Been lusting these since first seeing and parking lot riding them in North Carolina in 2005. When that new lime green came out I decided to order some only to be told no 26. Gutted.

 Check the FAQ. industrynine.com/faq

They say they can fit any rim. As the proud owner of a set of I9s on 26" Flow EX I know they can do 26"

Cheers to your upcoming new wheels!

Dude, they have the Enduro 305 and the new Grade 300 in 26, although I think the Grade isn't available yet, but it's coming.
  • 4 0
Yah we definitely do 26 still. Johansson and Nyquist and Wallace and tons of our dj riders...call back & ask for Joe.
  • 1 1
Too late now as I've bought elsewhere but to clarify no carbon enduro in 26.
  • 1 1
Yeah it still shows the enduro with claimed weight of what must be carbon on the website. Then it can't be selected in the ano lab. Charlie Taylor said it wasn't offered in an email to me. Bloody spewing if it's just a misunderstanding as I'm $740 into a 200g heavier wheelset.
  • 2 0
@choppertank3e: Yeah, I don't know about the carbon, it's not even on my radar really. I go through rims fairly often, so I just stick with alloy.
  • 1 1
@Satanslittlehelper: So do you send I9 your rim like they used to do in the old days? I'd prefer alloy and they used to sell stans rims on their site but now they have Reynolds I believe. The site only offers the enduro in carbon in the ano lab and not in 26.
  • 2 0
@choppertank3e: Well I just give them my wheel when I need it re-laced. I haven't used any other brand's rims with their system wheels. Since I've started riding the I-9's I just go with their rims, but I've only demo'd the carbon ones and those were on a a 29er. I'd email them at sales@industrynine.com to find out about the 26 options.

Hell yeah! i live right around the corner of I9 HQ and I have a set of Enduros on my bike. Hyper local wheels thats what im talking about!
  • 4 0
For the amount of work that goes into the hubs, the i9 are priced competitively. I think they are better Kings.
  • 5 1
"Them daggum wheels err so loud they keep 'a scarin' off the deer!!"

You just need a more powerful spotlight.

On my first pair of I9 (Enduros) since 2015 and I can say that they deliver! A happy customer. Smile
