With the bottom half of the trail nearly complete, the build crew knocks out some woodwork before heading to the high alpine. Once above the tree line they make the transition from stump pulling and bridge building to more straightforward benching...a lot of benching. Watch the dirt fly and the trail sections begin to connect as the crew nears the completion of the Peak to Creek trail.

This is why BC has the best riding... people put so much time and effort into those heavenly trails... #jealousofBC

Alaskan mill creates perfectly smooth slats. Splitting Cedar takes more effort? I build with split slats for better traction.
Any trail building is awesome. I just prefer hand tools.
The alpine exposure trail looks sick! Hour and a half of single track? Epic!

Too bad they want money to ride there.

You mean we have to pay to ride the trail (s) ?

Yes. Retalak charges $1500.00 per week to stay at their lodge, eat their food and ride the trails on a mountain it duz not own. I rode there once with friend's and the trail crew told me " don't come back unless your with the real deal" Those buideer's, paid to build and say nice things about their work.

Rode at Retallack the last weekend of September and we were able to do two heli drops on our last day down that line. Amazing ride. If you get the chance, I highly recommend it. Great staff, great guides, awesome riding all over.

So much respect! I can honestly say i've never worked that hard a day in my life. That being so, as an equipment operator i can't help but think if someone had rented them a skid steer it would have saved a lot of backs when it came to cutting that lip.

You guys are so lucky living in a country with so much freedom and countryside ..I was lucky enough to visit BC a few years back and fell in love with the place and the people ...absolutely awesome.....great video

If you live in BC or Aberta yeah but the rest of us we're looking at a 2 to 3 day drive to get to the best trails. Although we do have some sweet riding elsewhere but nothing like this.

Respect guys!!! I'm dreaming about proper single track 'bikes only' trail on my local mountain in Croatia. Maybe someday.. Maybe.

Kinrade-"One of the funest trails I think I've ever ridden" as you are MTB director of Retallak. I call bullshit. So these edit's are essentially advertising now?

What he gave is a personal perspective, and bias, because it's his trail. If you'd ever built anything yourself you'd understand.

I've built plenty. So you think, of all the trails this pro has ridden, Retalak is the best? I poached Retalak's trail. it's good. Not the best.

Builders are the lifeblood of MTB. True vision and inspiration right there. Great job boys!

Another awesome episode - but why not use a mini-digger to do some of the benching work?
  • 1 0
do you have to stay at the lodge to ride this trail? Or could one push up and ride down it?

The way to do it! Exactly what I want to do too.
