Hounded // Spencer Paxson: Professional Racer & Coach

Shifting from renewable energy to World Cup racing isn’t a typical career change, but Spencer Paxson isn’t a typical guy. We sit down with Spencer to talk about his adventure into fatherhood, the day he climbed 32,800 feet and his new coaching endeavors with Peak Energy Performance.

About the Series: Hounded is an interview show hosted by Freehub Magazine's Managing Editor Jann Eberharter and the beloved office coonhound Lucy. Between a few beers and a round on the neglin stump, we chat with some of mountain biking's most genuine characters.

I've know of Spencer for quite some time, then he showed up on some very local trail leader boards in my area... I mean trails right up the hill behind my house on Sweeny Ridge, definitely not destination trails and I couldn't imagine why he'd be riding here. Then it dawned on me that Barry Wicks had recently moved to the area (he has a pretty funny Strava handle BTW) and then it made sense. Good interview!

Kudos to Kona for supporting grassroots riders. Spencer sounds like he'll kick anyone's ass on a clapped out Kona 10 years from now. Keep spinning!

I've met his dad and I can tell you--it'll be a lot more than ten years that Spencer'll be keeping the kids honest.

Spencer is at the top of so many Bellingham Strava segments. It is great to put a face and story to the name.

Spencer is one of the best people I met over the years of racing bikes. Loved watching this.
