Our Cross Country team consisting of Barbara Benko (Hungary), Anne Terpstra (Netherlands), Sina Frei (Switzerland) and Lisa Pasteiner (Austria) will be completed by Caroline Bohé this year. Caroline is from near Copenhagen, Denmark.

She started her cycling career on a road and cyclo cross bike first, following her parents’ and big brother’s footsteps. When she was 14 years old, she traveled to her first mountain bike race as a team member of a squad to compete at the Youth European Championships in Graz, Austria. The team would not have been qualified to compete, if Caroline had not come along. This was the starting point of her mountain bike career, which resulted in a bronze medal at the Europeans in her very first year. Last year, Caroline finished in the TOP 5 three times in the U23 World Cup and together with her new team mate Lisa Pasteiner, she is one of the candidates for podium finishes in the new year as well.

“I was following the team the last few years. To be able to be a part of it now, is a dream come true for me. Towards the end of last year, I already had several opportunities to get to know the other riders and support staff and I am already impressed by the professionalism and the passion which every single member of the team possesses. My goal for next year is to further develop as an athlete – and now I surely have the perfect environment to achieve just that. Naturally, a U23 World Cup podium finish is a major goal of mine and given the results from 2019, I do believe that this is achievable”, said Caroline after the first team activities last year.

Tom Wickles, manager of the team, about the new talent: “For us in the team, results are not the only deciding factor when choosing an athlete. We spend a lot of time together over the course of a year and that is why the personal chemistry is one of the most important aspects when we are putting our team together. Caroline felt at home right from the start and we felt the same way about her – that was one of the most important building blocks of our cooperation. She also was very comfortable with the new equipment right away and her results speak for themselves. That’s why we are looking forward to the new season with our proven staff and our new addition. Together, we would like to make the dream of going to the Olympics in Tokyo come true for as many athletes as possible”.

This year, the team’s season kicks off with a joint training camp in South Africa which is a first for the team. Immediately following, Barbara and Anne will compete at Cape Epic for the first time. Until then, the athletes prepare largely independently and will compete at various cyclo cross races in Europe.
