5 Things We Learned at Snowshoe XC World Cup 2019
@Jamminator: The last info I saw on this was a few years old, but at that time the hosting fees payable to the UCI by the organizers for MTB World Cup events were in the ballpark of $25,000. I don't know how that has evolved for 2019. So yes, hosting fees apply but in the overall scheme of the costs to put on an event like this it's not really a prohibitive figure, or at least it wasn't a few years back.

Final Results: Snowshoe DH World Cup 2019
@Wheelersmtbholidays: I don't recall any events this season where Vali was faster than the top elite women under similar course conditions. There were umpteen comments about Vali's times being faster during various races when the posters didn't bother to notice that course conditions changed i.e. started raining after the junior women were finished. Vali is going to awesome in elite, but some perspective is needed.

Results: XCC Short Track - Snowshoe World Cup XC 2019
@ictus: For any continuous athletic event longer than a duration of about 1 minute, the vast majority of power comes from the body's aerobic energy system. It doesn't matter if it's 10 minutes or 10 hours. An aerobic event is analogous with an endurance event, therefore yes the XCC short track is an endurance race, just much shorter than some others.

Overall Standings: Val di Sole World Cup XC 2019
As of my post now this article for overall XC standings has 10 comments, while the corresponding article showing overall DH standings has 9 comments. Guess pinkbike's audience doesn't seem to give a single s**t about any articles for overall standings.

@MikeAzBS: "Vali Holl is an absolute freak for a junior womans rider. Like nothing we've ever seen." History upgrade required for you: ACC (Anne-Caroline Chausson) ran a time on the same course and conditions in 1995 that would have won her the elite world champs, except the UCI wouldn't let her race up out of junior.

5 Bikes and a Few Tech Randoms: Albstadt World Cup XC 2019
@clink83: Actually the same UCI weight limit also applies to mountain bikes. It's in the rules. However, for practical purposes it doesn't really matter since 1. to the best of my knowledge the UCI never checks weights for MTB events, and 2. as you correctly point out no one is going to be racing a weight-weenie hardtail under the limit anyhow because it would compromise function too much (which is probably why the UCI doesn't bother checking). There have been a couple of notorious weight-weenies in the XC ranks over the years, but even their HTs were still in the high 17lb range iirc, and this was in the day of 26 not the heavier 29 setups.
