Bike Check: Florian Nicolai's Trek Slash Component by Component
Not in any way that is relevant to the overall integrity of the bar. Wrap a layer of tape around the cut area, use a fine tooth hacksaw blade, seal the cut end with some clear nail polish.

Field Test: 9 XC Bikes & the Grim Donut VS Impossible Climb
@vinay: Let's be serious here. Akrigg could clean that climb on almost any bike (wouldn't even put it past him to figure out a way to massage it through on the Donut) which would prove absolutely nothing except that Akrigg is a better rider than 99.99999% of us, which we already know.

Field Test: Transition Spur - Made to Descend
This test isn't intended to be an exhaustive review of the entire category, which would be huge and unrealistic. Instead, it's a limited sampling and comparison between a small selection of bikes that have been released relatively recently and not been previously reviewed by pb.

All other things being equal (which they never really are) that should be yes since unlike metal frames, a carbon frame has no fatigue/memory limit for number of stress cycles as long as those stresses are within the normal operating parameters. I'm sure an engineer could state this in more proper technical terms, but hopefully you get the idea.

It's not French national championships, which would be limited to French riders only. It's just a race held in France open to anyone of any nationality so long as they have the appropriate UCI license.

In XCO format, at the international pro level men and women always race the same course, for a different number of laps in order to follow the UCI's XCO specifications for target winner's race times.

Video: Trek Supercaliber vs Cannondale Scalpel vs Canyon Lux vs Specialized Epic - Field Test Round Table
@pycior: Really these are all variations on a theme which result from rearranging a simple formula. Measuring time at fixed watts is as valid as measuring watts at fixed speed. On a relatively smooth and consistent grade, it's no more difficult for a capable rider to hold watts close to a target value as it is to maintain speed close to a target value, especially if the display watts are configured to a suitable smoothing setting.
