PRESS RELEASE: Guerrilla Gravity

Guerrilla Gravity 2018

Guerrilla Gravity is comin’ into 2018 with the horns raised high, head banging, and Pantera blasting. 2017 was our best year yet. We doubled production capacity to keep up with demand, while also improving efficiencies at our Denver, Colorado “Shredquarters,” where we design, manufacture, and assemble our bikes.

In addition to last year’s efficiency gains, we're also bringing CNC machining in-house. Production cost savings are being passed onto riders as we work towards our goal to "make mountain biking more awesome, not more expensive." Framesets now start at $1,995 and complete full suspension builds at $2,995... Where else can you get a US-made mountain bike for under $3k?

For 2018 there are four new Limited Edition color options, more durable decals (*which no longer appear to have been designed in MS Paint*), and improved dropper post clearance for those that want to slide theirs all the way in.

Guerrilla Gravity 2018

The 2018 Lineup

New 2018 Build Kit Options Include:

- The new MRP Ribbon Coil fork
- Spank bars, stems, and pedals to add bling. Available in black, red, and blue (maybe match the spokes of the new Industry Nine wheelset options?)
- SRAM Eagle drivetrains
- Bike Yoke Revive dropper posts in 160 and 185 mm travel lengths
- Industry Nine Trail 270 and Enduro 305 wheelsets
- DT Swiss XMC 1200 wheelsets, which they’ve found to be one of the most reliable carbon options on the market
- Huck Norris and CushCore tire inserts are available with every bike and come installed with your wheelset as part of a complete bike or frameset

2018 Frame Updates Include:

- More dropper post insertion. The stealth routing port on the frames allows an additional 30 mm of seat post insertion, allowing riders to run a Bike Yoke 185 mm post in a size Small (full suspension frame)
- New decals. The new waterslide decals are more durable, plus exclusive GG wind tunnel testing shows drag is reduced by .666% (the devil is in the details! Also, we don’t actually have a wind tunnel)
- New Limited Edition colors: F* Yeah Red, Glow in the Gnar, LamborGG, White Knuckles

I really want a GG bike. Close in price to the big names but made in the US by people making a decent wage, not some Taiwanese kid making $20 a day in a mostly automated factory.
  • 27 1
This. GG is one of the few companies that is offering a good value and good "Made in USA" product. They listen to their customers, are active on forums, employ smart design (all external routing ftw) and don't overcharge for it. I almost fear that in the future they'll be acquired by some investment conglomerate and have the prices jacked up for profits. The only thing on my wishlist for the future of GG is a name change (sorry guys) and a lighter weight Trail Pistol.

 @PHeller:
I'm with ya. I'm hoping they can grow while staying independent and active in the community. I really want a Megatrail for riding the 2 bike parks I work at but being a ski and bike bum doesn't pay well so I'm a year or two out of being able to afford one. Here's to crossing fingers and hope they can keep it up
  • 8 1
@PHeller: well you will be happy to know that the manufacturing savings noted above have resulted in a $200 price drop across the board for 2018..... it's almost like getting a free cassette or something!
  • 10 1
If it's automated what the hell are we payin' the kid for?!
  • 5 1
@Trouterspace: decal placement and cable routing? Tiny fingers work well for that.
  • 9 0
Plus you can fit it with all US made suspension, PUSH shock and MRP fork
  • 34 0
@DH-Angel: that's a valid concern as it has been done in the past by other companies. However, we have been in-sourcing more of the production and making investments in being a manufacturing company long term. Outsourcing manufacturing doesn't work well with our business model of being customizable and fast to respond to rider needs.

Well when you put it like that. You just sound like an ignorant american. Next time try, "I like supporting a frame material that can be recycled and doesn't result in landfills full of dangerous chemicals and carbon fiber!"

Also, bikes are welded by hand and they most certainly don't make $20 a day.
  • 12 5
@raditude: I think ignorant is the word you are looking for not “ignorant American” if you would like to move somewhere else I will personally buy you a one way ticket to any country you choose (really). Additionally please go dig for a day in the land fill and if you find more carbon fiber than aluminum I will pay you $100 per pound for the amount it is over. This is as polite as I can be.
  • 5 2
@Monstertruckermotherfuker: I’ll accept a free ticket. New Zealand please. Since I do not weld frames for $20 a day I can afford the ticket back. 50% off round trip I am down!

Aluminum can be recycled. Find me a sustainable way to recycle carbon and I’ll raise you $100.
  • 3 6
@raditude: one way is one way and the NZ boys would turn you into a chick, and really go try to find a piece of carbon in the dump, you will never find any but aluminum, everywhere.
  • 3 1
@Monstertruckermotherfuker: ticket or a few grand towards one. Either works. I’m generous like that.
  • 3 0
Do yourself a favor and order one up or at least Demo one! I ditched my SC Hightower for a 130mm Trail Pistol and could not be any happier. The Megatrail is dope too, and the Pedalhead, and the DH..... demoed them all before getting the TP. Thinking about getting a Megatrail next.

@raditude: you guys really need to shut it with this sustainability garbage. Have you seen how we make aluminum? Do you know why we recycle it?

That being said, I want a Megatrail...
  • 1 1
@yzedf: lol whittle a block of aluminum down to a tooth pick thats how
  • 34 0
The new bikes look great! Stoked to be working with y'all again this year!
  • 15 0
Hell yeah. You should see the "Les Paul Custom" Trail Pistol review bike we just put together: white, black decals, DB Inline Coil with gold Trail27 wheels. It looks so classy.
  • 2 0
 @GuerrillaGravity: lets see it!
  • 21 1
I can only afford a new build every 3 years or so, and this is on my short list for my 2018 build.
  • 7 0
I think I want everyone of their bikes but I really want a megatrail. It’s rare that there isn’t something small or big that I don’t like about a bike but I can’t fault anything on their bikes, especially with the new features and price. Well done GG

For those of you who want to check out people's builds or ask questions about setups/ride characteristics from current owners, there is an active page that you may find helpful. www.facebook.com/groups/guerrilla.gravity.mtbers

Stoked about the increased dropper insertion and that black is now standard, kinda neutral about the new graphics.

Would really like to see PB or Vital review the new 27.5 bikes.. the gen 1 Megatrail seemed to get quite a bit of review coverage but things have been strangely silent on the new gen. The 2018 Bible of Bike didn't even feature a GG product.. Frown
  • 9 0
There are a number of reviews of the gen 2 bikes out there. Drop us an email and we'll send you some links: Bikes@RideGG.com. We're in talks with Pinkbike to get 'em The Smash for review.
  • 5 2
@GuerrillaGravity: i will gladly review your full line of bikes. free of charge of course. just give me the bikes and in a year or two i will give you a review Wink

 @GuerrillaGravity:

The Smash?? It's wheels are too big, nobody wants to see that..

I'm thinking Megatrail/Shredogg dual review, 2 birds with one stone (and 2 shocks and 2 forks)!
  • 16 0
@grand69: Different strokes for different folks, it's why we make bikes for more than one wheel size.
  • 3 0
 @GuerrillaGravity:

Haha.. right on. I was obviously joking but the 29er lovers “Smashed” my comment anyway! PB has spoken.

Seriously.. seems like you guys have earned the clout to get the full review treatment from the big players on all the new gen bikes. Bike review politics must be more complicated than I’d like to think.
  • 4 0
I have a Shred Dogg and it's the most insanely fun bike that I've ever ridden.

It turns every ride into one big smile-fest!

The build quality is amazing too. For the sheer quality/cost, GG can't be beat.

Stoked to pick up a Smash this year! Been loving my Trail Pistol, such a fantastic bike.
  • 1 0
Any weird creaks or other issues with the linkage now that you have plenty of miles on it? Bullet proof?
  • 4 0
@DBone95: No, I had a recent creak in my cranks, but that was at the spider interface, nothing to do with the frame. The frame has been absolutely rock solid! Even though I am picking up a Smash, I am definitely keeping my Trail Pistol.
  • 3 0
@DBone95: I had a bottom bracket creak on the first ride. GG then regreased and reinstalled it. 75 rides or so and 15 months later, no squeaks! It's really been reliable.
  • 4 0
Love owning a gen 2 mega in a sea of specialized and trek bikes here in MN. @guerillagravity you guys should see the looks it gets.
  • 5 0
My Megatrail v1.0 still runs strong!
  • 3 0
I'm riding a GG/DH fitted for all mountain use and it's been a fantastic frame for me. This company is doing it right!
  • 3 0
Gotta get my hands on a white Smash with coil setup!! Looking to smash mountains !
  • 2 0
dang. awesome looking bike. awesome pricepoints. I will highly consider the Megatrail when its time for a new bike. I see these out at Apex and Dakota all the time.

Super dope to see some us bike companys putting a great product and getting rewarded for it, understand there from Colorado but would like to see spec options for the can creek helm from stock. Go Guerilla!
  • 1 0
email them, bikes@ridegg.com it never hurts to ask
  • 5 0
We're happy to order you up a Helm. We build bikes with "off menu" components all the time. Like @Hhaw said, feel free to drop us a line.

GG....please come to FL so we can demo your sweet welded rides. The Fat Tire Festivasl at Alafia and Santos would be grrreaaaat. Thank you FL Managment

PHK YEAH RED! says RAD RICK.

Love the new colors and decals, I'll be sending mine in for a refresh!
  • 1 0
@GuerrillaGravity are you guys still selling/making the trail pistol in the 130mm travel? I only see it listed as 120 with the new bikes?
  • 3 0
The 130mm option isn't advertised since The Smash is available now in order to keep information more concise. However, you can order a Trail Pistol in 130 rear with the DB Inline coil, just let us know when you place the order.
  • 2 0
I have limited time running it both ways, 120/air and 130/SD Coil. It rips both ways, of course with different strengths.
  • 1 0
@GuerrillaGravity: Is a 2018 Trail Pistol available in 130mm with an air shock or only coil?
  • 1 0
@DBone95: Coil only for the 130mm travel option.
  • 1 0
@GuerrillaGravity Is it possible to run the Smash with a 160 rear? I'm currently on a Wreckoning, and I do appreciate the extra travel.
  • 5 1
Nope. That would have required either a sub-optimal seat tube geometry, really tall BB, or too long of chainstays. So, we focused on quality of travel vs quantity.
  • 2 0
Amazing crew at GG! Asked them a question a got back to me right away. I want one.
  • 3 0
Awesome looking bike and company. Very reasonable prices for made in USA.

Good and sticky when the terrain turns masohochistic. Gives you more pleasure than you can handle. Game for anything freaky immaginable.

Nice work GG. Keep the devil horns high and proud.Smile

 Awesome bikes guys!
  • 1 1
Be still my heart! Straight to the top of the new bike list. But for the love of Gwod what do those numbers on the website indicate...???
  • 2 0
 Which numbers?
  • 3 0
@MikeyMierk I am sure the numbers you are referring to is the scale which GG uses to rate each bikes capabilities. I would guess that the numbers represent a 1 to 10 scale and 11 being off the charts. I could be assuming wrong.

@GuerrillaGravity any plans for a longer travel 29er?

@GuerrillaGravity: bringing heat to the comment section
  • 2 5
@GuerrillaGravity: Thanks for the response. That link doesn't work and I don't get your point. The Smash is on my the top of my list as I want a long travel 29er. My bike will be used at DH parks and on the same trails you all likely test on (Dakota, White Ranch, Bergen, etc.).
  • 1 2
@ryan83: id take a chance and switch from my Wreckoning.
Ill wait.
  • 1 0
@GuerrillaGravity: It worked when I took out extended link. I'm slow so is your point that people don't need more than 140mm of travel to go fast? It's not about the bike, it's the rider? It's not the size, it's how you use it? (insert joke).
  • 8 0
@ryan83: You're local, you should come take out The Smash for a demo. All of the trails you mentioned, including the parks are exactly what The Smash is designed for. It's not just quantity, it's quality Smile
  • 1 0
@GuerrillaGravity: I most certainly will. Thanks for chatting it up.
  • 1 0
I noticed the DH bikes isn’t on the site anymore. Is ot gone for good? Will an updated/Horst link version be in the works?
  • 2 0
Sadly, no. We found most riders were setting up the Megatrail to pull double duty in the bike park instead of going with a full-on DH bike... We still have a few left in small and medium, though. If you'd like one, hit us up: Bikes@RideGG.com
  • 2 0
@GuerrillaGravity: I'm saving my pennies for the 2028 GG 29er DH bike, even if you never make one. But on a shorter timeline, I'm saving my pennies for a smash because I want to ride park, xc, and enduro tracks much faster, on an american made frame. I don't even own a Guerrilla Gravity, but I still love GG and I mention your bikes to customers at my shop once in a while (don't tell my co-workers). Never Outsource Anything!! (I will be very mad). Also, I hope your bikes will still come in Dark Green--it is my favorite color, but if you don't I still love GG (but please keep making dark green bikes).

@GuerrillaGravity Please say you'll be demoing these baby's at the Sedona MTB Festival this spring!

So what if they're not wind tunnel tested. Question is; Are their products gluten-free?

 These guys are awesome!!

The only problem I have with the GG name is that bikes direct uses the name gravity for one of their crap brands.
  • 4 2
 But are they GGG?

 Savage question

Had to look that one up in the Urban Dictionary, ha ha ha

 Reviews on bike yoke droppers?
  • 2 0
Have a bike yoke and transfer now. Previously on reverbs. The revive dropper is bar none the best dropper post I've used. It's action is so light and smooth. I never thought dropper stiction was a thing until I rode the bikeyoke post. My transfer with a wolftooth remote feels like crap now.

Bought it in September, mine now has about 500 miles on it now and has never been 'revived'... And I've put it upside down to fix flats and lift my bike by the saddle with the dropper down regularly (two of the actions that might spur the need to bleed).
  • 1 0
@GuerrillaGravity Are you still doing a DH bike?
  • 4 1
Sadly, no. We found most riders were setting up the Megatrail to pull double duty in the bike park instead of going with a full-on DH bike... We still have a few left in small and medium, though. If you'd like one, hit us up: Bikes@RideGG.com

Guerrilla: A community driven effort to spark change
Gravity: The fun part of mountain biking
  • 7 1
Also, you could refer to us as just GG. It won't hurt our feelings.
  • 4 1
Funny how you mentioned YT and GT as those are abbreviations and dislike GG. We've been calling them GG for awhile btw. I personally don't care what they name their bikes as long as they rock and roll and obviously they do!
  • 6 1
@GuerrillaGravity On that note when's the GG "Allin" model going to be released? Punk f-ing rock...
  • 1 1
@ride4austin: I never said I disliked their abbreviation GG but "guerrilla gravity" is a large name and large logo. GT for example - it's the guy's initials but he doesn't plaster his full name all over his bikes.
  • 2 0
@Eatsdirt: It's certainly been suggested and on the list of ideas for future use.
  • 2 0
@GuerrillaGravity: “GG” sounds like the name of that distant Aunt who comes to visit once a year, gifts everyone an ugly sweater, and then spends the rest of her visit chain smoking outside.

I think I’ll just stick with Guerrilla Gravity.
