Project Chainge

Project Chainge is brand new initiative that hopes to bring the values of the podcast and wider biking community together to be a force for good, bringing real CHAINGE into the peoples lives who really deserve it.

Bikes help us live an active lifestyle and are good for both our physical and mental health. Project Chainge will support charities which provide bikes for children and adults whose access may be limited. Ensuring that everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy cycling and all of its benefits.

The two charities we would like to support on this occasion are Sheffield Cycling 4 All and Pedal Ready.

Sheffield Cycling 4 All

Sheffield Cycling 4 All provides active, inclusive weekly sessions for children and adults with a range of disabilities. The sessions are run by a qualified experienced cycle leader but the project relies heavily on volunteers. They use adapted bikes, side by side tandems and wheelchair trikes to enable safe cycling for all. Unfortunately funding has now come to an end, the bikes are getting tired and there are not enough bikes to fulfil the demand. A new bike or two would allow more people to enjoy cycling, whatever difficulties or disabilities they face.

Mental Health Cycling

Mental Health Cycling have recently started a new initiative, using bikes to support people with mental health issues. The project provides mental health patients with time out of hospital, gets them into the fresh air and on to two wheels. They also share their fleet of bikes with other charities and bike projects. Again, they don't have enough bikes to meet the growing needs. New bikes will ensure they can offer more inclusive sessions and promote positive well being through cycling. Marin bikes have kindly stepped up and are going to offer ‘buy one get one free’ on the San Alsemo DS2 bike which normally retails at £500.

Your Donations & Prizes

I don't have a specific target in mind. I'd like to raise enough to buy at least one specially adapted bike and one regular step-through bike. If we raise more money then we can buy either a better quality adapted bike or more step-through bikes and equipment. In short, the more we raise the more we can do!

Every person who makes a donation will automatically go into a prize draw to WIN prizes from our podcast sponsors and 2018 guests. We have signed merchandise from Olly Wilkins, Danny Macaskill, Jordie Lunn, Crankworx and more. I’ll be keeping you posted on here and on our social media outlets.

Thank you for reading and for your support.
