To end the week of Crankworx Les 2 Alpes’ mountain bike action, the infamous GT Mountain Of Hell, fueled by Kali, took place. The biggest names in enduro and downhill racing joined a field of 700 hardcore riders in a snowy mass start on the glacier at 3,400m. The entire course at Les 2 Alpes descends 20 kilometres and has a vertical drop of 2,600m, finishing in the tiny village of Venosc.

The fastest man was France’s Jerome Clementz, making the entire journey in just 32:49.815, with second place rider Rene Wildhaber of Switzerland just behind at 33:01.114. Damien Oton of France came in third with a time of 33:14.974.

In the women’s field the French were the fastest with Anne-Caro Chausson in first, Morgane Such in second and Isabeau Courdurier in third.

An upset for the race was Nicholas Vouilloz who had a good start on the glacier, clocking 99km/h on his bike’s GPS, before a crash took him out of the running for the podium. The race, organized by the Choucas Bikers, is in its 13th year, and has been a mainstay in the Les 2 Alpes’ calendar of events. The GT Mountain Of Hell, fueled by Kali, is a departure from the typical line-up of Crankworx events, but was an epic way to end a week of incredible mountain bike action at the inaugural Crankworx Les 2 Alpes.

Another distinction awarded on the last day was the crowning of the King Of Crankworx Les 2 Alpes. Bernard Kerr of the UK took home the crown for his solid performances during the week.

Rene Wildman Wildhaber.... I like how he puts it - "beautiful scenery, excellent piste - so fast... I really enjoyed it". What most everyone else says "after 5 minutes your arms and legs and lungs are beyond burning, just numb... and you have 35 minutes more!"

cool race!

I always wonder why Mega and MOH Organization they never give us some kind of " LIVE "full footage from the elicopter following the head of the course, mixed with POV pitctures of top riders and good speakers on it!. Something like this would pay off! and a lot of us paying a lot of attention in front of our screen during half and hour or more!. It would be so exciting, this has all the best elements of cycling!
Come on REBULL and Crankworx!!

Aaron Gwin is the Anne-Caroline Chausson of men's DH. Seriously though, she is the best woman to ever ride a bike and could smoke the field at the drop of a hat.

Amazing race. Just got back from it. Pain and suffering but worth it all. Qualifier was worse... Highly recommended if you hate your wrists and shins, love cuts and bruises and breathing through your arse while your head feels like it's going to explode! Who doesn't??

Just returned from the Mountain of hell..........what a riot!!!!!!!!!. my first ever race and what a way to pop my cherry. Highlight of the week was been overtaken by Sam Blenkinsop in the qualifier riding his bike without a rear tyre pinning it down a 35 minute run.lol
