Leogang, Salzburger Land (AUT), January 23th 2012 – This coming Friday, Leogang is where the action is: With the Monster Energy White Style presented by Kona, the first must-see mountain bike event of the year 2012 calls on riders and friends of the two-wheeled sport to come to Leogang. The course, the riders’ line up and the side program are already in place, the weather is supposed to be perfect. In short: Nothing stands in the way of an awesome event!

Course builders work

The 20 riders from 10 different nations starting at the Monster Energy White Style in Leogang will face a course that is short but sweet this year. Course designer Grant "Chopper“ Fielder once again outdid himself and built a sick line for his competitors. The course is a bit shorter compared to last year, but an additional step down will give the riders the opportunity to convince the three-headed jury with an extra massive trick. The enormous finishing jump and the huge step down before it had already commanded respect from last year’s riding field and have lost none of their snowy charm this year. The 2012 course creates the best conditions for a high level trick contest while every run will end with the most spectacular airtime imaginable on the last two jumps.

Course building Leogang

Meanwhile, it is clear who is going to battle for the 7,000 Euro prize money. After the last minute confirmation of US rider Mike Montgomery, the 23-year old German Simon Kirchmann completes the final riders’ line up, joining his fellow countryman and buddy Peter Henke.

The final rider’s line up of the Monster Energy White Style 2012 presented by Kona:

Niki Leitner AUT
Simon Kirchmann GER
Thomas Genon BEL
Bartek Obukowicz POL
Jan Netrval CZE
Teo Gustavson SWE
Jakub Vencl CZE

Martin Söderström SWE
Bienvenido Alba ESP
Grant Fielder UK
Antoine Bizet FRA
Lance McDermott UK
Yannick Granieri FRA

The Monster Igloo

So far, it seems that the weather is on the snow riders’ side: sunshine and meters of snow are currently dominating the Salzburger Land’s landscape and the forecast is looking great: Optimal conditions for the Monster Energy White Style.

Monster Energy, Kona, the Bikepark Leogang and all other sponsors are looking forward to welcoming you on Friday, January 27th 2012 in Leogang at the Schanteilift. After the qualifying, at about 6pm, the live act of the NIHILS (directly at the course) will start heating up the atmosphere with their rocking melodies for the "grand finale“ beginning at about 8:30 pm. The legendary after contest party at the Kralleralm starts at about 10 pm.

Well, just one thing remains to be said: Get up to Leogang and rock the Monster Energy White Style! It is worth it!

Check out some photos from last years contest and get ready for this years!

 Good point
  • 109 19
They dont invite anyone from Canada because they know what the outcome will be, nothing but Canadians on the podium. Wink
  • 44 3
We need to put on our own white style, it's not like we don't have enough snow.
  • 9 3
hmm yeah because you get snow for a good part of the year. sam pilgrim would still do well though
  • 9 5
I don't know how they can call this a "must see mountain bike event" when they don't have the majority of the top riders.
  • 10 6
 Montgomery FTW USA!!!
  • 4 3
Anyone can answer me? Why Andreu Lacondeguy doesn't ride at freeride mountainbike world tour?

fuck monster bro, look at Greg Watts and his family....
  • 6 2
rcpro- sponsors are NOT obligated to pay for hospital bills... A sponsorship is a BUSINESS relationship and as cold as it may seem, unless there's some stipulation in the contact, they don't have to pay a dime. This is a pretty well-known fact.

Also, it's not weird to find some "top riders" not at this event because it's not worth the risk for them but the rider list still looks insane.

if i had a energy drink sponser i would watn them to pay my hospital bills, they need me for advertisement
  • 3 1
No they don't. The amount of money they can put up for an athlete is top-tier compared to what other most more bike-core sponsors can provide. And trust me in that the talent pool has grown tremendously over the past decade. It is just a risk athletes take in order to pay the bills better... Corporations are not people... but in some cases, it's better PR that the higher ups pretend they really care.

rcpro88 pretty sure watts rides for Rockstar...
  • 3 0
FYI- Greg Watts is sponsored by Rock Star Energy.

rcpro88- Give your head a shake. Monster just footed a huge amount to Sarah Burkes family after her recent passing, saying that they want financial stress to be the last thing her family has to deal with during this time. Her hospital bill alone was $550 000.
  • 2 0
 my mistake*
  • 1 2
@scott-townes you dont have to be such an a*shole #arshole
  • 4 1
@teambelmont and others... Actually to this time Sarah Burke's family have not actually received a hospital bill. Current estimates are around $220,000 and the Sarah Burke support website claims to have made more than already to cover her medical bills. How much of that may or may not have come from Monster is unknown at this time. That is the most up to date report there is at this time.
