Behind the Numbers: Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 29 Suspension Analysis
I have this bike and you are correct. It only has 138mm travel so you have less to work with. BUT, It is the fastest funnest bike I have ridden. I came off an 2018 enduro with a float X2 and the rear actually feels better on the EVO . You can analyze it all day ,,,,,but it rides up and down really well. I have taken 30 secs off many Stava Segments up and down.

Video: Mike vs Mike: Geometry Battle - Specialized Stumpjumper vs EVO
Yes , I noticed my shoulders are more sore after riding my S3. More push-ups . I glad people don't think this bike would work for them. Less people will be on them. I rode the stumpy LT 29 for a month and then went to the S3 Evo 29. It is totally f@cking awesome and I look forward to every ride, up and down.

I demoed the regular stumpy carbon comp 29 for 5 weeks. I had a 2018 enduro before it. It was pretty good. I went out on a limb and bought the Evo S3 29 without testing it. I am so glad I got the S3. It does everything better. If you are an experienced rider you will have no issue with the bottom bracket height. Just keep it in high and don't run tonnes of sag. I m glad people don't think the Evo is a good bike for them ( they haven't tried it). there will be less people buying them.

Opinion: Carbon and Aluminum Wheels - Does Stiffer Always Mean Better?
I totally agree. At 215 lbs and riding hard I was destroying 29 aluminum wheels. They also felt flexy and shitty. I have ridden Nobl carbon wheels for 4.5. years without a single issue . Haven't even needed trueing . I run heavier tires with less air and it feels awesome . A cost savings for sure. For lighter riders a totally different story.
