Kitsbow to Close After Financing Shortfall
@valrock: Everyone has their preferences. I prefer flannel's because I've been riding in them forever, and have a collection. When I'm on tour I can wear them out and about and look normal / dressy. I do have Icebreaker stuff as well but I don't like the fit / feel when it's a layer I'm going to be seen in.

Kitsbow to Close After Financing Shortfall
@valrock: important to remember that there are two "types" of flannel now. Cotton, and wool. Traditionally, flannel is always wool. Using a wool flannel as a mid-layer is a great choice. Your baselayer wicks humidity / sweat / moisture to the mid-layer, and your top layer, or shell, keeps all the heat in. Wool is great at wicking moisture away, drying quickly with body heat, and not becoming stinky. It's perfect for a bicycle tour or hiking because you don't look like a cyclist.

@speed10: Vintage ones, like the ones I buy are. Remember that Pendleton is wool trademark, specifying it comes from American sheep and is woven in the US. Maybe they export the raw textile, too.

Kitsbow to Close After Financing Shortfall
Always wanted a piece of Kitsbow. But even with their sale I can't afford their garments. I've been buying Pendleton flannels off of eBay for a few years. $30-50 for handwoven wool mid-layers made in the states. My most recent one even has elbow pads..

Video: Joe Barnes Rides Hope's New 155mm Crank Arms
Been riding 160mm cranks on both my 27.5 and 29er hard tail. Will never go back. Don't need the leverage of 170 or 175, I need the crank clearance and acceleration it gives. I'm already a good climber but the short cranks have helped even more. I clear all the climbs easier than before.
