For round five, the California Enduro Series made a stop off just over the border for the Ashland Mountain Challenge, hosted by Ashland Mountain Adventures. All 300 race plates were put to use for yet another sold out event, as CES regulars and local Ashland shredders made the trek to the most distant stop of the series.
Friday's practice meant the day was a constant cycle of loading and unloading of shuttles until the setting of the sun forced them to stop. The crew at Ashland Mountain Adventures kept everything running smooth with their dialed shuttle vans and full-service bike shop. With so many eager racers trying to dial in their lines and bikes, Ride To The Hills volunteered an additional and much-needed shuttle rig while Santiam Bicycle provided neutral race support all weekend long.
Race day was full of excitement and anticipation! After the initial morning rush, it was a beautiful and relaxing day in Lithia Park as everyone waited for the first round of riders to finish and ride back through the venue on their way up to the top for the final two stages.
Quickly becoming a mainstay of the series, the Kali Road Warrior was on hand once again to exchange busted helmets as part of the Racer Support Program. 11 racers who had less than clean runs were able to exchange their busted helmets for brand new replacements from Kali, and safely complete the epic weekend of racing and riding. The busted helmet breakdown consisted of eight Enduro half shells, two Full Face, and one youth helmet for a shredding grom.
"We were so glad to have Kali here supporting all of the racers and representing the brand." - Sue from Ashland Mountain Adventures
"We really appreciate all of our sponsors and the product that they contribute to the raffle as well as the volunteer staff. Kali went above and beyond to deliver a ton of great product for the Ashland Mountain Challenge." - Bill from Ashland Mountain Adventures
It was no surprise that local legend Nathan Riddle took the win again. He's hard to beat on his home turf! Another Ashland local, Adele Mery, took the win in the Women's Pro Category. Full race results are listed at this link.
After the dust settled, we finished off the weekend with some great riding, relaxation, and a recap with event organizers and support crew. Ashland is an amazing place and the crew at AMA put on a world-class event! Thanks for hosting us and the rest of the California Enduro Series participants!
What is the Kali Race Support Program and who is the Road Warrior?
In an effort to support events and racers of all levels, Kali Protectives has launched a new Race Support helmet exchange program in conjunction with the Kali Road Warrior.
We all ride and unfortunately, crashes do happen. Sometimes that happens at an event or race weekend, resulting in your helmet being damaged and unsafe to continue to use. But you have more racing to do. What now? When the Road Warrior attends a scheduled event, registered racers/attendees have the opportunity to submit their crash damaged helmet for inspection, and exchange it for a brand new Kali helmet at no charge. Kali is on hand to ensure riders can continue to compete without worrying about their helmet. Currently, the program is limited to the West Coast, however, we are preparing to launch another Road Warrior and Race Support Program in Canada. Providing this initiative continues to be successful, we may establish Road Warriors in other territories.
If you would like to learn more about the Kali Road Warrior or possibly schedule him to attend your next event, shoot an email to kaliroadwarrior@kaliprotectives.com.
