Kellys Factory team riders did a great job at the 2017 UEC MTB downhill European championship in Sestola, Italy. Rasto Baranek placed 12th as the fastest Slovak rider, Hugo Robenek crossed the finish line half a second later with 16th place and Petr Folvarcny was 18th (junior) with Lubos Stano in 33rd.
Friday's track walk went pretty well. We've never been here before so the place is absolutely new to us, but it looks great. Conditions are very good, sunny weather, the track was really great, steep, a lot of roots, very sharp sections but really fast. We've found a few important details of the track we need to tune up, so we can gain some additional speed during the finals.
Training session went well and proved that the track walk was really important for us. We tried different lines, different bike setups. Every ride all the team felt better and better, with more confidence and really good racing attitude!
Hugo, a.k.a. Jack the Whipper, couldn't deny himself a few crazy tricks during the training.
Depo, track, depo, track... All day long to prepare ourselves and our bikes the best we can. Hugo was the one who spent the most of the time in depo tuning his green NOID.
30 degrees and lots of dust made us dirty every single ride, so during the breaks, we cleaned our bikes and took a cooling shower...
Time for the final touches before Sunday's finals. Listening to the music, concentration, meditation or just being sure to look good on the track. Every one of the guys had his own way.
The four horsemen. Ready to fight!
