Windham World Cup...the Battle of Greg Minnar and Gee Atherton

DH world cup racingHere it is the final world cup...the one that will decide who goes to the World Championships with the number one plate. It has been determined that either Gee Atherton or Greg Minnar will take the title.

Fox racing's course walk showed that riders will be kept on their toes...or pedals? Anyway, the Windham course will keep riders challenged.

The qualifying results surprised me a little bit, seeing as neither Gee Atherton nor Greg Minnar was in the top three. Instead it was Steve Peat on top. The only reason Steve Peat's first place qualifier surprised me is because he hasn't exactly had the best year, due to lack of fitness. But I was still happy for Steve.

Steve Peat's qualifying run at Windham.

Windham 2010 top ten qualifiers:

Steve PEAT: 2009 world champion.
Aaron GWIN: two time American national champ.
Samuel BLENKINSOP: 2008 Schladming world cup winner.
Greg MINNAAR: Three time World Cup overall winner.
Gee ATHERTON: 2008 world champion.
Marc BEAUMONT: 2010 Val di Sole.
Steve SMITH: 2010 Val di Sole fifth place.
Josh BRYCELAND: 2008 junior world champion.
Bryn ATKINSON: 2008 second Australian National Mountain Biking Championships.
Cédric GRACIA: 2003 Red Bull Rampage winner.

I couldn't end this blog without having current world cup overall leader, Gee Atherton's helmet- cam from Windham, New York.
