You don’t notice how different the views from a cinematographer and a photographer are until you put them together. That’s what happened two years ago when Lone Wolf Productions teamed up with us at TNL Photography.
Some of our first shoots were with Matt. While we were still in high school we used to shoot with Matt as soon as class was out for the day, so to be doing this with him in a professional setting with both of us running our own companies is something we would have only dreamed of back then.
Being photographers and being able to have the time to notice the little things along the way plays a big part in our personal progression. We pay attention to what each other are doing, share footage, photos and learn from the experience allowing us to improve at a much faster rate. In many ways this helps that we're not a huge film company with a director of photography to tell us where to be, because we need to work together and we feel it shows in our photos and the edits.
Before we met Matt we had never shot any video at all, even on shoots together we only really handed out advice on what we thought would make a cool shot. When Matt is on the bike though he obviously can't be behind the lens and that's how we gained our first experience with video. In most photos you can frame in everything that you want and the only thing moving is going to be the rider. Totally different with video, everything moves. You need to know the start and the finish of your shots, and there is a lot more to run through than just simply pressing the button.
It has been a great experience for everyone involved, we love doing what we do and it's only just getting started. Big thanks to Matt for throwing down in this one, and allowing us to work together for as long as we have.
