This weekend, the 2016 Mountain Creek Spring Classic will play host to stop number 2 of the USA Cycling Pro GRT series. We have Mountain Creek Bike Park local and freeride legend Aaron Chase to ride along with for this year's course preview. Check out what bike park manager Marc Tremain has to say about this year's route down the mountain, and we'll see you guys this weekend!- We'll use the same start house as previous 4 Spring Classic events.
- After dumping out of the woods, the course makes some modest changes from last year with a new a small new section at the top of
Great Northern followed by tons of speed and a new section of track just before leading into the Asylum rock garden.
- This year, the approach to the rock garden has changed to a far left side entrance. This should definitely open up some new lines that we haven't seen in a while!
- The rock garden is followed by a mini-kicker that sends you into
The Asylum berms at a really good amount of speed.
-
The Asylum berms are followed by an off-camber chute that leads you into some really nice, fresh dirt-work highlighted by the newly restored
GRT Hip.
- After the hip, you enter the section known as
Watercooler, this section has changed slightly from last year.
- Exit
Watercooler and if you’ve ridden bikes here before, you know what's coming up next. The approach to the
Red Bull Cabin is entirely unchanged, but what comes after is totally new...
- Hit the cabin and all of a sudden you're going 40+ mph (well, maybe)! Bounce off or suck up the quick speed bump, and launch over the roots to a new landing zone. The next section of the course is all new, including some man-made berms and high-speed off camber terrain.
- Hit the bridge at the bottom of this section and you're now out on Sugar slope in a matter of seconds! A new line brings racers down far rider's right of the grassy slope, ending with a new high-speed finish line drop.
