Mongoose Bicycles have been around for a long time, as you probably all know. Since the early days of BMX in the 70's Mongoose has been leading the way in total radness when it comes to the two wheeled, pedal powered variety of stunting your bike. Times haven't changed even now in 2011 and Mongoose thought it was important to recognise the history of the brand by organising an absolute mother of a roadtrip across Western USA. Starting in Denver, passing through Angel Fire in New Mexico, through various stops in the Utah desert and a quick stop in Las Vegas and finally finishing up in Los Angeles, Mongoose Bicycles presents the "Know Your Roots" Roadtrip.

Romo getting stoked on the way up the mountain at Angel Fire

The whole crew at the Coors Factory one of the lifestyle stops on the tour

Featuring Steve Romaniuk and Amir Kabbani shredding to the max for 10 days solid, you can check it out for yourself in the first episode on the 1st July 2011 followed by the 2nd and final episode on 8th July 2011.

I might as well set things straight since it keeps coming up over and over again. I left Specialized to Mongoose for a better opportunity to help improve bikes and put them back on the map. I felt there was nothing left for me to do at Specialized and they did not need to have 4 top riders. Since 4 years ago when I tried the Mongoose bikes out I fell in love. This was no easy task coming from Specialized. Since then every year the bikes have improved and continued to evolve into a bike that has been anywhere from flying off the biggest drops to winning the Aussie cup! Beleive me. The wal mart division is a totally different company with separate offices and employees. They are actually not even in the same state. They have nothing to do with Each other. One end is high end bikes, the other end is bikes to get people into the sport for cheap. We take profits from the cheaper bikes earning to fuel R and D for the high end bikes. End of story. The boot'R is the real deal and a bike I have loved riding for the last 4 seasons!

lots of my mates ride mongoose bikes and love them, I'm gonna watch these videos a few times, get inspired and do what I do with it. Our hobby is driven by a business and doesn't always translate as well as we would like to the bro nature of our world, it's important to remember that pretty much everybody involved in this kind of work is in it purely to free up time for this kind of fun. Things that appear one way may not be so much so when you are involved in it.

they just went from mongoose presents straight into starring...didnt even mention know your roots until after that
  • 1 0
yeah, that was a pretty bad oversight - maybe they were too caught up in making fancy edits to notice
  • 1 0
Umm... don't think that was an oversight. Go watch for example the follow me trailer, it's in the same order.

Are they going to have a Walmart section? I know there are a few quality mongooses, but they sold out big time.

They didn't "sell out" they friggin MADE CASH. The department store bikes and the "real" bikes have nothing in common than the name on the downtube. Back when Mongoose was a respected name it sold a TON of department store bikes for them. Too much of a good thing backfired on them when they tried to get back into the big dog game and they have to fight ignorance such as your own. Mongoose/GT/Cannondale has DEEP friggin pockets, that's why they can sell decked out ready-to-rock bikes complete for what some FRAMES cost. And once they learn what customer support is i'll go back them.

Actually...a Mongoose is a wicked little rodent that tears shit up! Google one...

often a mongoose bike is refered to as "goose" I think he is just pluralizing the slang term for mongoose - which could be geese? anyways its all good :-)
