After the dust had settled at the UK National Downhill Championships at Rhyd Y Felin, we attempted to grab all the bikes of the newly crowned National Champions. However, as expected, trying to catch people during the excitement of winning a race of this magnitude it was a bit like herding cats. Although we did manage to catch eight of the newly crowned Champs for you to enjoy their downhill weapons of choice.
the Saracen Myst has a quad piston rear and a dual piston front, I haven't seen any bikes setup like that recently in any world cups. (correct me if im wrong)
Unfortunately the change to how podiums were done meant that I was still up the hill when the Vets had there podium. I did try and find the winners but couldn’t
John Cobb was half way home when the Elites came down (still pretty sure he picked up a Bronze and not Gold medal lol) Will Longden borrowed a bike and smoked us.
@PTyliszczak: No doubt, thats why I ended with "I'm probably just jealous"! I just personally believe, its better for a younger rider to start on at least a second hand bike, to give them some perspective, and to level the playing field for some less fortunate riders. But that's not to take away from these incredibly talented kiddys!
@Jaib06: They probably did, but they progress damn fast and probably needed a bike capable of matching their speed and talent.
My 10 year old son started on used hardtails from 3 or 4 years old... progressively got better and better bikes. He's 10 now and is blowing tires, wheels and shocks on his 2018 Marin Hawk Hill (120mm/130mm). He definitely needs more bike for how fast and hard he's already riding. And he's not even close to the same level some of these little shredders are at.
Backyard drinks one Saturday lead to the girls "hunting for mint" to make Mojitos. Someone said, you guys should go "munting" (mint hunting).
It was then revealed (by urban dictionary) that "Munting" is entirely something of a different activity
