Race Report: British National 4X Round 3 & 4 at Redhill Extreme
Redhill Extreme, Forest of Dean hosted Round 3 and 4 of the British National 4X series at a familiar track that came with new challenges. The track kept riders on their toes with tight berms, arm-draining whoops, the gap jump and a double into the finishing line. Round 3 saw a windy day combined with a grassy track slowing the riders' pace. However, with the Gloucestershire Sun beaming down, the track became drier and grippier as the weekend went on, with riders becoming more confident and willing to push riding to the limit by Round 4 on Sunday.
Plenty of discussions between riders who are always keen to offer advice on other people's lines
No big money teams here at 4X, it's true grass-roots racing with the exception of Mum and Dad's never-ending support
Practice gave riders plenty of opportunities to try out different lines
The flat grassy turns collected plenty of egos this weekend
Redhill Extreme is not yet open to the public this year, but the team at British 4X and the Midland 4X club put in the hard work to get the track ready for this weekend's racing
Hannah Escott, not only commentating but also out making the most of practice

Things always get tight when 4 riders head into the same first corner
The views over Gloucestershire are enough to distract anyone at the start gate
Dan showing he's not all about sending the whips with the man from the Forest of Dean also happy to scrub the jumps to keep his speed
It was often the first rider out of the first turn that took the win, riders battled it out to make sure they got their line choice
Plenty of power going down off the line
The younger riders watched on as the older riders showed them the art of 4X racing
The ever fantastic commentary (and sometimes heckling) supplied this weekend by Mophead and Hannah Escott
Roy Sutton dominated in his motos and went on to take first place in the Men's Veteran field in Round 3
So many options of line choices, the rider order changed turn to turn
Cornish Man Charlie Currie raced his first 4X of 2022 taking home fourth in Round 3. It's good to see him back between the tapes
Mixed weekend for Angus Child, not the Saturday he would have wanted but taking the win in Round 4 Senior class
Dave Richardson kept it smooth in the grassy jumps, taking second in the Master's field in Round 3 and 4
Izzy Wagstaff keeping it pinned in the dusty berms on her way to third in the Women's Elite A Final in Round 3
Josie McFall added some style on her way to a double win this weekend, taking first place in both Round 3 and 4
It's easy to miss the chaos behind you when you're focussed on the race. Thankfully Dan Wagstaff walked away from this slide-out if not a bit dusty
It was a close battle in the Men's Elite field with all riders on each others wheel
