Dual Slalom Finals - Sea Otter 2013

Blazing sun, dust, and berms. That's a pretty accurate summary of the dual slalom action at the 2013 Sea Otter Classic dual slalom race. The mens's pro finals came down to a head to head match between Peaty and Graves, with Peaty making it to the last round on his 27.5” wheeled Santa Cruz Bronson, only to get bumped out of contention by Jared Graves aboard a lowered Yeti SB66. Mitch Ropelato was slated to appear in the little final, but apparently succumbed to heat stroke and wasn't able to make his start time.

In the pro women's division, Jill Kintner successfully defended her title, narrowly beating Rachel Atherton to the finish line. Third and fourth place ended up as a battle between Anneke Beerten and Luana Oliveira, with Luana claiming the third place position.

Ah, it's that time of year when we all scratch our heads as to why Dual was ever nixed from the World Cup. If there were ever a mtb discipline that was tailor made for television, this would be it. Plus, downhillers wouldn't be scared off of competing for fear of injury by way of a pileup like 4x had the tendency to do. Damn.

Awesome that Peaty got second, truly a great rider and guy all around, but gotta holler at Graves. He rips, and can tear up all different riding disciplines. I hope he does great in the DH this year.

Heat Stroke, really? That means he was near death and suffered some permanent brain damage. Probably more like heat cramps.

Who cares where Kyle is...? After his arrogant winning statement he made last year, he must wise up. ''Slalom is an American sport''??, how about ''MTB is a GLOBAL sport''. Rather than being a stereo-typical narrow-minded american

 Well said.
